Windows app cast button greyed out

I’m relatively new to the app so if I’ve configured it wrong forgive me, but casting from any other device in my house to my chromecast works fine except when I try to cast from the app on a laptop running windows 11. The firewall is disabled, and casting from Edge browser even works but the app looks better and sorts my library better so I’d prefer to use it.
Is there a fix for the cast button being greyed out ?

The Plex desktop app looks exactly like the web browser app.
If their respective user interfaces look different, then this must be caused by either installed web browser extensions, or simply differences in how the library view has been configured.
It should be easily possible to make them look identical. Their only difference lies in the actual playback abilities.
The Desktop app has a quality and compatibility advantage when playing directly on the computer.
But since you want to Chromecast, you can use the web app.
The Web app runs within a browser, so it can talk to Chromecast.
The Desktop app appears to have difficulties doing that.
