I dont use AVG and neither do others ive spoken too. Ive spoken to people using Windows, Linux, NFS, SMB, 1G, 10G, Synology, QNAP. The common denominator in all them is Plex and network access media.
Exactly Iâm using win 11, just set it up recently on dedicated mini g4 comp.
What you are doing is still related to remote access. To be clear, when your computer connects to the router the router will assign it an ip address. This can change unless you tell your router to sign it the same address every time. Thatâs what i mean by static ip and what reserving the ip address in your router does. Ignore all the other stuff. Get this part working correctly first.
I have been having similar issues for the last 2-3 weeks and itâs annoying as heck. Server just randomly shuts down on Windows for no reason and at no set time, so not during an âeventâ. There is nothing in the logs that point towards the problem, nothing in Event Viewer either.
Windows 11 Pro with latest updates, running latest Plex Server has not addressed the issue. Running Beta before the data breach did not resolve the issue either.
Identical issues.
I just rebooted from 2 quality updates for Windows 11 24H2 and plex actually started up on itâs own and WITHOUT the dreaded orange triangles. I am going to see if this lasts a whole week as it is now and will report back.
Itâs Mocking Me lol
Said Iâd give it a week and on DAY 8 it dropped out again.
It has to be something of PLEXâS END.
I cannot figure this out, tried everything.
Have to wait for another update I guess.
Makes it kind of useless if you canât even use it flawlessly on your own
Network!!!
Hate to tell you this but it is not just you. My system does that for many of my shows.. We will watch for twenty minutes and bamm the buffering. If I hit the back button twice and then the enter twice, I can move on for the next twenty minutes.
Doesnât happen in Jellyfin or Emby or VLC. Only Plex.
And NO I will not submit my logs for review. You have screwed with the system so much trying to make it a streaming money maker. If you want to make me smile, put in a feature of LIVETV download for later viewing.. Other than that OH Well.
Youâre lucky , I donât even have their live TV available where I am.
I used to have buffering on my own network, now It is only at the start, which I realize is only the hard drive initiating. The bigger problem now is the disconnecting.. Sometimes it begins with a slight buffer then freezes (when it happens while youâre watching something) then I have to go the server to find all yellow/orange triangles. Server becomes unavailable. Itâs only in the next room, through ONE hollow wall.
Getting sick of it. Doesnât happen often, but such a PAIN.
Little Update : I found a post that said to try shutting off Network Sleep for Windows 11, which I had no idea even existed. I did so and it still didnât stop Plex from âdislocatingâ on me.
I noticed that my AVG screen was up last time it hiccupped so I have now shut that down to see how long it will stay connected this time.
Lots of troubleshooting and changing settings everywhere that probable wouldâve been just fine. To far gone now to change them all back. LOL
Work in Progress!!!
Anybody else have another idea or anything you have tried that didnât work??
PMS logs would be helpful here. So far no one has even provided a server version to point to. If anyone observing this issue could please enabled Debugging logging, wait until the issue is observed, then provide the entire zip of their PMS logs, that would be great.
would it be the âcrash uploader logsâ you would need? I just downloaded 5 or 6 of them
Server version is Version 1.42.2.10156 (the newest)
âŠ
Im having what seems to be the same issue as far as I can tell by reading this thread. Made a post on my own that has logs you can look at.
I was pretty clear with what I wanted
Sorry, this is all greek to me. If I knew what I was doing I wouldnât need this post lol
It happened again sometime today. Wasnât home but I had to reload plex page on my server to get to anything so it should be a fresh log.
Happened again this morning.
@caper_6 Iâve collected all your logs and created an internal issue to track down whatâs going on. Sorry for the inconvenience but thank you for your patience and willingness to continue troubleshoot. Could you try something for me?
Stop PMS, uninstall PMS, and check that everything is removed from the install directory (C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Server
). If there are any lingering files or folders let me know but also go ahead and delete them. Reinstall PMS and see if the crashing continues.
The installer and install directory is completely separate from your serverâs settings, database, cache, media, etc. Uninstalling is safe and does not touch anything but the application (server) that runs.
Iâm not so sure I am willing to do this. Iâve recently set it up on itâs own server and have done this a couple times already. I lost all data, like watched and watchlists and also had to rescan a bunch of harddrives and reorganize everything again. I donât have the time for that right now.
Itâs only been about 5 months since I have redone it all on the new server
