Hello,
I have Plex installed on my WIndows 2012 server. I just recently purchased a WinTV-QuadHD tv tuner card. I had the TV Tuner card installed in my Local windows 10 system for a couple days to test it out. I found the WinTV application was buggy beyond belief. It constantly crashed. Anyhow I’ve since removed the card from my system into my Plex Server. The Plex server sees it connected via the PCIe bus however no channels can be found.
I bought this card because it is supposedly compatible with Plex. I’m a Plex Pass / premium member. Please help. Thanks.
Below is an excerpt from the Supported DVR tuners page on the Plex website. Just making sure you didn’t install any additional software that could be causing a conflict. Also if you get it working. Make sure you see the part that says you have to add the device twice to get the 4 tuners. A lot of people seem to miss that with this card. If that doesn’t work, I unfortunately can’t help you much further. I’m personally using the same card on Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS and it works great!

Windows: “WinTV 8” (for WinTV tuners) or “AVerMedia TVBox” (for AVerMedia tuners) software might conflict with Plex Media Server’s use of the tuner. If you have issues tuning channels, please remove this software, install only the driver for your tuner, then attempt to scan channels again.
Thanks for your reply. I didn’t install any additional software before posting. I just installed the WinTV software on the server to see if i can find channels to ensure it isn’t the coax cable. Per the link you sent included in your post I have this card WinTV-QuadHD. During the scan it does list 2 tuners but no channels found. If the WinTV Software picks up the card and finds channels i know its not my cable atleast and will remove the WinTV software.
Update:
I disabled the Plex Service(I have it running as windows service)
Installed WinTV Software it doesn’t see the tuner. I suspect a bad driver for Server 2012 r2. Anyone else have this issue or a workaround?
I am having the same issue. I am on Windows Server 2012 r2 as well. Installed the tuner into PCI slot. Plex detects the two devices. When i click scan, i get no results. I do not have the WinTV software installed, just the device drivers. If you happen to find a solution please share!
The tech support person in me wants to ask the obvious question: Do you have an antenna connect to the tune card?
I was never able to find a solution to my issue. I ended up buying this from my local micro center store.

I had to go get an MCard from my cable TV provider. Setup for this was EASY.
- Slapped in the MCard from my TV provider
- Connected it to my network via CAT 6 Ethernet cable
- Opened Plex and plex found it immediately
- Scanned and found channels.
Now anywhere in the world with an internet connection i can connect to my Plex Media server and watch TV, movies, music, tv shows and so on.
