Workarounds for app not starting/loading past splash screen (Version 1.3.1) - Fixed in 1.5.1

Still having this issue as well. Signed in as my wife’s Xbox account on then started Plex and no progress.

We only have our 2 accounts linked to the Plex account.
Auto Sign In not on
Kinect
Quick Launch.

Hard reboot Did not working.
Reinstalled and no progress.

Thanks

Not sure if it’s been mentioned or others are facing this exact issue…

I was getting the endless spinning on the splash screen. I quit the program and when it restarted it would say server not available when trying to watch a show… The show was partially watched so I pulled up the show on my computer and cleared the partially watched flag and the show fired up no issue…

My xbox one is having the same issue. I don’t have another user with an xbox live account but tried to open plex under guest login and screen that says you have to have an xbox live account popped up so I logged back in to my account and opened plex again and it seemed like it was going to work, it went to the pin page with a code to connect my plex account again so I went to the website put in the pin and from the website it said I was connected but it never went off the screen with the pin code on my xbox so I tried manually entering my plex username and password and hit sign in and it just kept saying “signing in” but never changed from that screen so I am stumped.
only one user so only one linked to plex
auto sign in is on
using kinect
and energy saver

I would just like to add my name to the list of users frustrated by this issue. I have completed the “create another user” work around but as others here can attest, one thing that keeps the a/v, gaming, tech hobby viable is the “wife test”. When she wants to fire up a kids show for the toddler while she is making lunch and forgets to change the profile first… fix this thing!!

Yeah, I’m also frustrated by this, more so because I had to deal with the PS4 version breaking last month, and now that I switched all my stuff to the Xbox One, that version breaks. The PS4 version at least was fixed in a few days, this is just starting to suck.

Any news on a ETA, hopefully we get this month free

Add me to the frustrated list - I tried everything…created second account etc.

I have the same issue for almost 2 weeks now. Changing users did not resolve.

Same here. The workarounds don’t work. Frustrating!

Same issue for me. Changing account also did not work.

Curious but did you guys remove electricity (hard boot) of your XBox Ones and while disconnected/powered down remove all XBox One profiles from Plex?

Issue still persists. If it’s not fixed soon, I don’t see the point in paying for a service that doesn’t work on the primary device I use it on.

I sort of solved my own problem – the second account on my system was from a guest, so I did the following:

  1. turned off instant sign-on
  2. signed out
  3. removed my guest’s account
  4. removed plex app
  5. signed in
  6. installed plex app
  7. ran it (and it worked)
  8. turned instant sign-on back on

Whether I was just lucky or not is uncertain. It may not last, and I don’t expect other people can casually start deleting their other accounts, but that was my experience anyway.

Tried everything said in this thread and still I get the spinning circle of mockery. Hopefully your best minds are on the case and people don’t have to keep saying “me too” in this thread.

Yeah this is getting very frustrating now. @“Dom C” and @moussa.uk has Plex actually pushed a fix/update to Microsoft?

I GOT IT TO WORK!!! I did something similar to the post above thanks @TheRealDeria .

Before I was getting just a loading wheel forever and no options inside the Plex app when i pressed the hamburger, only thing that I could do was uninstall (which I tried many times with hard resets and all) when i backed out.

I did the following

  1. I unlinked (deleted) the xbox from the Settings > Devices
  2. I logged out of my primary xbox account
  3. I created a new xbox account and clicked on the plex that was already installed
  4. The account link popped up to input the 4 linking letters and it began working on that xbox account
  5. I think switched users while I was still in the app on the xbox by pressing the hamburger button and switched to my primary account
  6. Plex then had me enter the 4 letters for the primary account and now works on the primary account
  7. BTW I did not have xbox gold subscription on the secondary account.

Yes, we have pushed a fix to MS. It reverts the troublesome part of the app to what it used to do, so hopefully should fix this issue.

This is the busiest time of year for MS certification, so we’re pestering them quite a lot (as you can imagine) to try and get this through as soon as they can. Of course, they may yet fail us on something, but I’ll update here when I know.

Awesome, thanks @“Dom C”

Guess that explains my issues that started yesterday…what’s the version # of the app with the fix, not even sure if you can look at that on the X1 but thought I’d ask.

You can look at the version in the Settings, About screen. Hit the menu button on your controller to bring up the settings option.

You will be on 1.4 now. 1.3 (with the problem) went out last Tuesday. 1.4 (still with the problem, since it was already submitted) arrived this Tuesday. 1.5 (hopefully with the fix) has been submitted and we’re waiting to hear back from MS. You will not have this version yet.
