I’ve used Plex just fine for roughly two months or so. I put the app on my friend’s PS4 but didn’t sign her in as a guest, just signed in on my (parent) account (which also has Plex Pass). About a week later, she was watching something on the PS4, and it wouldn’t let me watch anything on my Xbox One. I realize now that this was (likely) because she was signed in on the parent account, and I was also trying to sign in on the parent account. Since then, I have enabled guests, so I think it’s set up properly for her to access it.
Here comes the problem though… When I couldn’t access my account, I went into the settings and disabled the xbox one accessibility. Then I uninstalled the app from my xbox one, and reinstalled it. Now when I open the app, it brings up the Plex logo, and the loading icon just spins continually. It won’t go past this point. I’ve been down for about two weeks now, tried a handful of things, but nothing’s working. Anybody know how to fix this?
I’m in the same boat, same timeframe. It seems that I got an update and it worked once after getting the update but never again. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled and no luck. Still works fine on my mobile devices, Chromecast, etc.
Same here, for at least a few days now. All my other devices work just fine, Amazon Fire TV, iPhone, iPad, and web player. This is kind of an inconvenience since my primary device is my XBox One.
I have the same issue, every other device works except the Xbox One which are our primary media devices in our house. I get a server unavailable message, and the message will update with the name of the server if I change it. So I know it sees my Plex server in some way. Mine started two days ago which coincidentally was my Plex Pass renewal day.
I have the same problem. Immediately after the PLEX update for the Xbox One, I’ve been stuck on the loading screen with the spinning circle. I just purchased the PLEX Pass, but now I can’t even use it because the Xbox One was my primary device.
I have the same problem. No matter what I try I still just get the loading circle. Is there any way to fully uninstall the app from xbox one and redownload it?
I was having the same issue, Plex was stuck constantly loading.
I ended up going back to the home screen, opening the app menu and quitting the app completely.
I then signed out of my profile and went straight back into plex, it asked me via the app to sign into a profile so i chose my main account and after a short time i was back in the app like normal.
I hadn’t used the XBox One Plex app for about a week and when I tried last night, I received the same issue as the other users above. I tried deleting the app from my Xbox and reinstalling it (and hard booting my Xbox a few times) but the issue remains. I will try hammo2000’s fix tonight and see if that fixes it.
This was a bug that was found in 1.3 after it had passed certification through Microsoft. Version 1.4 was submitted before 1.3 was released (And therefore did not address this issue because it was unknown at the time) and passed certification shortly after 1.4 was released. Plex then submitted 1.5 for certification with the only changes being to fix the failing to load issue (By reverting the settings storage). 1.5 passed certification at the end of last week and is slated to be released by Microsoft on Tuesday (Tuesday is the normal Microsoft patch/release day).
What is happening is that in 1.3 user settings were changed to be per user instead of a global setting. However, during loading the app is getting an access denied error reading the user settings which causes the app to stop loading (At this point the user gets stuck on the spinny circle and if you hit the menu button you get a gray square). In the thread j4m355 linked are the only known workarounds:
Hard reset of the system (This was how Microsoft solved the issue during certification, so the issue was not flagged as failing the certification)
Create a new user on the Xbox One to temporarily start the app past the loading screen (This works for some but not others. For some they can then switch back to their main account with no problems, for others they cannot)
Signing out of all users and loading the app to get the ‘You must have an xbox live account’ message (This worked for me when I ran into this issue, but does not work for everyone)
Deauthorizing the app from your plex.tv account settings. Some users have reported success with this method.
