Wrong color on oled plex app

Why does my LG oled do this to a 4k file ???
Plex calls it 4K DoVi (HEVC main 10)

All colors are as you can see wrong

That file has Dolby Vision, and either your TV doesn’t support it, or it’s failing to enter Dolby Vision mode. From the title “4K DoVi (HEVC main 10)”, the file also doesn’t have any “normal” video stream to fall back to, so if your TV doesn’t support DV, it won’t be able to play the file with the right colors.

How come i could not play it in correct colors on my computer either?

Because your computer doesn’t support Dolby Vision either. Very few PCs do - they have to be Dolby Vision licensed devices (typically laptops from what I’ve seen), and need additional Dolby software installed to play back DV content (and even then I’m not sure if Plex specifically would be able to play it correctly).

MKV container?

Dolby Vision must be in MP4 container (or maybe TS) to work correctly on LG TVs.

If in MKV the colors are incorrect.

To be clear, Windows will tone map Dolby Vision only content in HDR10 mode if you use the Windows Media Player app from the Microsoft Store. This works with demo content I’ve downloaded that only has Dolby Vision and no fallback.

Every single ripped disc I’ve tested has an HDR10 fallback for Dolby Vision content, so I’ve never had playback issues.

But Dolby Vision works fine from my NVIDIA SHIELD with an MKV file to my LG G2 through my Marantz AV 10 receiver and my older Yamaha RX-A6A. You shouldn’t need MP4 or TS.
