wrong epg data (always e01, wrong year) leads to multiple recordings being matched to the same incorrect episode or not being matched at all
that makes the recording quite useless at the moment.

the latest update does not use e01 anymore…
but useless 1/1/[year] instead. which is equally wrong and useless. and as the year us also mostly wrong you still get different episodes mixed to the same date. and no matching.
also for the same show from the same channel some episodes have a real season/episode number, others have just the date.
and the episode description are also missing most of the time. sometimes the same description of the show is used for even episode.
gracenote was quite bad… but this is even worse. why don’t you just use to ota epg. its there, its free, its quite good. and even if it is bad, its better than this mess.
That would provide an even worse experience than currently
Season/Episode is not used correctly in the OTA EPG, so this data would be missing
BBC use 1/4 (for episode 1 of 4), so useless for recording
Channel 4 have Season/Episode but only in the description, not a usable field
Any date based shows would just use the date of recording, not the actual aired date
If the issues had been fixed, Gracenote is far superior to the OTA EPG or what we have now, they provide data to countries worldwide and understand the markets
actually no. at least here in germany the ota epg is not worse than gracenote was and is way better than what is currently there. it would also be a decent fallback if the situation with the plex epg improves.
gracenote had many many mistakes for germany, had missing channels, missing providers, … and not a single thing has been fixed during all the years gracenote was used. and now it is even worse.
and what is wrong with 1/4 if it is consistent and the episode data is used.
How would you know what Season it relates too?
If the EPG showed, The Big Bang Theory, Episode 10/22
How would that match for metadata?
just use the episode information from the ota epg. it is better than nothing and better than the wrong data we get at the moment. and it is a decent fallback if matching fails.
It seems like this new EPG data “powered by Plex” instead of Gracenote really screwed the pooch. I see why many people are switching to Zap2XML. I feel like this new version was not tested well enough for public release…it feels like beta to me. I agree that there is so much wrong or missing information in the guide data. In addition I had to delete a lot of my sceheduled recordings and re-find them in the guide. Another major issue is the SD/HD flags on channels are incorrect. It shows that all of my HD channels are in SD so I had to change all my recordings to prefer HD instead of HD only or it wouldnt record. This release is really garbage. Of course we get no response on this thread from Plex support people.
this is still a mess.
basically all problems are still there:
this is still such a mess…
Plex support? Is anyone watching this thread?
