Wrong external subtitle language played

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797
Player Version#: latest nvidia shield pro

External subs (srt) are correctly named and recognized. Of course, the language in the srt file is correct. When media is played, subs are in another language. On ios this does not happen.

I made an explanation of a similar issue here Plex player on Android TV plays the wrong audio stream in movies - #14 by DorCoMaNdO can you confirm whether it’s the one you’re reporting

Thanks for your reply and report in the other thread

Yes, just like you, with burn-in auto (instead of image only which i had selected before) all OK.

Can you update the thread title to include similar details (ex: “Image-formats only breaks subtitle indexing”), and tag android mobile too?

Please reproduce the issue and provide the Android logs from the app and if the stream is being transcoded, the PMS logs too. Also provide the XML info for the video you used in the test.

Here you go, I used Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, playback first started with SRT English subtitles (which incorrectly used VOBSUB), I then switched it to English VOBSUB and back to SRT, it was transcoding the entire time as a result (despite burn-in being set to “only image formats”), when it actually plays content with SRT subtitles, it does not transcode and instead directly plays the HEVC video (not present with my current test, but it may show up with previously played media if that’s still part of the logs)
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-06-09_18-14-53.zip (3.5 MB)
plex tv logging.txt (4.2 MB)
fantastic beasts 1852.xml.txt (139.4 KB) (forum won’t allow xml uploads so I just appended “.txt”)

Thanks. I can see in your logs what you have described. I’ll need to investigate what is going on.

Thanks for your help

My issue i think was different; wrong sub language was displayed, as @DorCoMaNdO described in the linked thread. Burning ‘only image formats’ enabled for me created this issue, every time, when multiple srt files were present. Turning it to ‘auto’ fixed my issue.
@anon18523487 do you need report from me as well?

Might be the same issue, but yes please send me your logs so I can verify.

I will, but as a newbie to this; please give me some time to explore your quest

Here’s a link for instructions on how to get the logs:

I believe it’s the same issue, the wrong subtitle language will play for me too, it’s just that English was both the first VOBSUB and first SRT subtitle in my repro logs, had I selected SRT #2 (Hebrew) it would’ve used VOBSUB #2 which is Czech.
@anon18523487 I could share access to the file if that’d help

Linked to this too?

This happens to me as well, to the point I have to use Kodi instead of Plex to watch content.

If there are embedded subtitles in the video, I can’t use my srt subtitles. It will always display the first embedded subtitles or nothing at all.

Well you’re not alone, this bug is going on for a few weeks, and i even had contact with a plex dev to troubleshoot the issue (provided everything they requested and even more) but they can’t reproduce the issue (perhaps because they are using English or none subs as default).
But for almost 4 weeks 0 response from them.
This happens also on the latest beta and nightly
Reset the Shield already 2x to factory settings.
