I have just set up a Plex server in the past week or so. I am running into an issue. I see folks have problems with naming, but I am not sure this is it. I did check the naming conventions first.
I will have a Movie in a folder. Let’s call it Finding Nemo. In that folder on my desktop, is a file that plays that movie. However, in Plex, it says finding Nemo, but plays Toy Story 2 When I try to fix the match, it changes to Big Hero 6, but still plays Toy Story 2. When I go to the Big Hero 6 folder, It shows Toy Story 2 and plays Toy Story 2. Back on the good old desktop, the file in that Big Hero 6 folder plays Big Hero 6. I am completely confused now after thinking I’d found the best program ever.
It looks like you are mixing Movies and TV Shows (e.g. Big Hero 6 and Ducktales Complete Series) inside an “Other Video” library. You will continue to have issues if organise your media in this way, split them into separate libraries.
An “Other Videos” should not care about filenames which is why many use them with folder view. So it should not matter if there is a mix of TV and movies. I would use a movie and tv libraries myself but nothing wrong with what he is doing.
I asked about MP4 because an other video library can still read embedded info in an MP4 of local media assets enabled and prioritized. I know it is a stretch that the file would have embedded data for a completely different movie. But just want to rule out the simple stuff.
Edit. Actually I just re-read the OP. Missed that it is actually playing toy story as well. When getting info for file in Plex what path does it show?
