Hello, I can’t figure this metadata issue out, can someone please help.
I have a TV show called Postman Pat (1981). I have the ordering set to thetvdb aired date. All my files follow this convention and are named correctly, but Plex is showing wrong episode titles.
Example,
In my screen shot you can see episode 5 is called Postman Pat gets stuck, but thetvdb (and my file) says it is called Postman Pat and the thunderstorm. Please see here….
Can anyone help me figure this out please?
It looks like your files have embedded metadata with the wrong episode titles.
Notice how the first few episodes have a number at the beginning of the title?
That’s most likely coming from embedded metadata.

Ok thanks, I’ve done that and it does seem to have helped, especially with artwork, but looking at episode 5 specifically it still looks wrong. Thetvdb aired order is still selected and I’ve tried rematching etc.
Plex typically uses tmdb as a starting point for episodes ordering and the links from the episodes from tmdb to tvdb for this show where either missing or wrong. As the ordering used on both sites is very different this maybe the reason its all the place for you when using tvdb ordering.
I have gone and fixed these at tmdb but it’ll take between 48-72 hours for these changes to make their way to plex afterwhich give the show a metadata refresh and see if it helps.
