Meta Data is randomly wrong

Server Version#: 4.136.1

For quite a while I’ve been having episodes matching up incorrectly for my kid’s TV shows. Especially when different places bundle different episodes together, which is understandable.

However recently I noticed that Plex will randomly just grab an episode title from who knows where! Seriously, I’ve looked at IMDB, TMDB, and TVDB and none of them list the episode name I’m seeing.

For example, for bluey minisodes I have a folder named “Bluey Minisodes (2024)” inside I have “Season 01” and inside it I have each episode labeled “Bluey Minisode - S01E## - Episode Name”

It starts off alright, but then labels episode 10 as “Phoney” according to thetvdb.com that’s episode 9, themoviedb.org lists it as Episode 7, imdb, claims that’s episode 22.

Episode 16 is shown as “compilation #2”, don’t know where it got that from. And there are several more.

I’ve tried to set episode ordering to "The Movie Database (aired), The TV DB (Aired), and The TV DB (absolute), and while it does reorganize things a little bit, it ultimately just grabs random episode titles and slaps them on different files.

What happened to the “Fix match” option?

I also tried changing the agent for that library back to the TVDB, but plex fussed at me for using an outdated library that would soon be obsolete. What’s going on here?

Are these mp4 files?
If they are, disable “prefer local meta tags” in the properties of the library.

Then decide between the episode ordering of TheTVDB and TheMovieDB and stick to it. Disregard IMDb. It’s not used in Plex for series.
Change the numbering of your files accordingly.

Perform the Plex dance with this show.
