Wrong metadata

I have another example of wrongful library management. Titles that were released in the 1930s are being identified as in the 2030s (i.e., 100 years later and 5+ years into the future), even though the library file has the correct year parenthesized:

This error is showing on MACOS Plex, IOS Plex, and Apple TV Plex. I believe The Thin Man was released in 1934, though I would be willing to see a remake in 2034.

Are you having problems with the web app? That’s the web app version, your screenshot looks like the mobile app. I have seen people complain about this problem on mobile but they don’t have any libraries favorited. Long press on Library at the bottom and heart a few libraries and see if it changes.

Edit: Just searched and also noticed if the phone name had special characters that was also causing this concern.

I just added this movie and it added fine (could be your agent, I’m using “Plex Movie,”) you can try refreshing the metadata or manually editing it, but it’s correct on tmdb and added fine for me.

Your screenshot looks like embedded metadata are overwriting the regular ones.

If the video file is a mp4 container, edit the movie library, go to the Advanced tab, and disable “Prefer local metadata”.
Then “Refresh metadata” of the movie.
