I updated plex yesterday and now have exactly the same problem

I also updated 2 days ago and that is when I have the issue of all newly added tv episodes having a originally available date of 02-03-2036

I am running 1.26.2.5797, and this issue of release dates 1900-01-01 started a while back (about a month ago), only today I made a concerted effort to track the cause.

My timezone is GMT-9.5… so yes, I have a large negative.

I’ve verified the following:

  1. Unchecking Prefer local metadata fixed it…on my TV library
  2. My Movie library has this still checked… but gets the release date correct regardless

So it does appear to be an issue with the TV scraper only.

Thanks to the folk on this forum… I now have a work-around :wink:

Episode release dates are all 2022-02-06 (February 06, 2036) on all episodes added since I upgraded to server version Version 1.26.2.5797. I believe I was running version 1.26.1.5772 before upgrading, which did not have the date glitch.

All of my files are MKV, and do not have any release date metadata anyway, but unchecking Prefer Local Metadata and a refresh fixes the problem.

There is a know bug, and a patch is incoming to fix the issue

Someone from plex should really just pin a short article explaining there is a date issue parsing embedded data and that Prefer Local Metadata should be disabled if you see it.

Similar issue, since the last Plex server update, when I add episodes of shows the Release date is set to “February 7, 2036”. I am running Plex Server Version Version 1.26.2.5797 and Windows 11 Home, Version 21H2, OS Build 22000.675, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.675.0|. I enabled debug logging in Plex Media Server, downloaded the log, and have uploaded it with this comment.

I installed Plex Server Version 1.27.0.5878 released for windows with Plex Pass Downloads enabled this morning from the plex site, refreshed my metadata for all libraries that have episodes and now the release dates are correct.
