Wrong season info

So i signed up for TMDB to make edits because they still weren’t updating but then when i look at some of them the EXTERNAL ID appears correct on TMDB and the info is correct on TVDB but still not showing on plex after refreshing metadata LOL could there be another issue?

The first example i have off the top of my head is S09E05 which shows as ID 323669 which is correct.

I’m seeing that in my test library as well. A few others episodes are showing 2006 in their titles as well. I’m looking at the xml and there are three GUIDs listed for IMDB,TVDB and TMDB.

The IMDB & TVDB are correct for S09E05. I’m guessing the TMDB one is aw well but TMDB made a change recently. You used to see the ID in the url but it does not show up there now and I’m not sure how to find it now.

I also looked at S09E04 since it looks correct and in the XML there is only the correct TVDB & IMDB GUIDs. There is no TMDB GUID. I know that signifies some kind of problem but I don’t know what it could be. Something is still scrambled up.

I’ll try doing a Plex Dance with my test folder and see if that makes a difference

Well, well, well. That was pretty productive. After moving the WWE Smackdown back into my testing library and letting Plex churn away, Season 9 looks just fine. All the episodes are showing 2007 in the title. S09E05 is showing the correct poster and has the correct show summary. I can only guess that doing a refresh metadata doesn’t seem to do a complete refresh. Maybe something stays cached?
Doing the Plex Dance sure seemed to clean all the WWE Smackdown metadata out of my local DB. Once I put it back into the testing library Plex was forced to do a fresh pull from the Plex backend.

It should work for you as well. I have my server set to autoscan but if you don’t, you’ll need to either turn it on or do it manually.

i did the plex dance twice with no luck so far lol i’ll mess around with it more tomorrow i might just create a new directory and add the folders to it and see if that does the trick. thanks

Welp yea i just added a new test directory and added the folder and it’s not completed but it looks a lot better already showing consistent dates in titles and S09E05 is correct

Ok, looks like we are making progress. Keep in mind, we talk about “our server” talking to the “Plex Server”, but I’m sure it’s really a large distribution network spread around the world and all those servers need to get synced. Also there are any number of network gizmos that connect all that together and are probably caching what they can to cut down on network traffic. All the data gets from point A to point B eventually.

I don’t know how many seasons of this show you have but while you checking/validating the seasons you have, it might be worthwhile to start working on the seasons I did not get to. I took a quick look at Season 10 and at least the first few episodes had external IDs but I believe they were incorrect.

Ok so i got it figured out i think what fixed it was when i created the whole new directory i also had it set to “TMDB” instead of “TVDB” which previously i had TVDB but i switched to TMDB and scanned previously but nothing changed i assume it was still holding the previous metadata and by creating the new directory and having it set to TMDB was a clean start. The only thing now i need to fix is season 7 has the special which is listed different on TVDB vs TMDB and throws off the order of other episodes after that date so i’m switching my “Rename my tv series” settings to TMDB and renaming all of the files again to match that source.

the only other thing i need to make sure of is matching the episodes after s07e48 is correct there’s some duplicates for info on tmdb like the final two episodes for that season have the same description but different photos. that stupid special really messed things up lol

Ah, I hadn’t thought of the folder defaulting to TMDB. Since you were asking about TVDB ordering, I presuming that was your library default, If TMDB ordering for that show works for you, go for it.
I do remember the end of season 7 and those dupe descriptions.

Yea tbh when i set up the new directory last night i forgot to switch it to TVDB but noticed more was showing up correctly because i had previously tried the plex dance twice with TVDB as the default and it still wasn’t updating for me.

I just went through and fixed the descriptions for the episodes in season 7 episode 48 and after to include the special so hopefully in a day or two theyll update on plex.

I appreciate your help, This ended up being more of a mess than i originally thought lol
