found thats show was labeled and saved as the recent chicago fire s6 e8 but when played back its actually a will and grace episode. how is this possible? see screen shots and logs recorded on 1/11/18. have had prior issues with will and grace already due to miss labeling of metadata and tagging of seasons 9 being recorded as season 1 in other discussion
Logs do not cover the time period of recording. They only go back to 1/12 at 23:46. The only thing I see from the screenshots is the date/time of the episode appears to be one hour earlier than the other times the episode was recorded. Does it show in your recording schedule as recording at 9:00 pm? The only reason I could think of for this is the guide data listed the show as coming on at 9:00 pm that night.
It could be the info from Gracenote is wrong. Follow this to report the issue.

i’ve already reported the will and grace guide mismatch to grace note and they refuse to fix it for season 9 showing up as season 1 i tried getting you guys and them to fix it by separating out the 1998 seasons and the 2017 versions but it hasnt happened. and i have no idea how the will and grace 2017 season 9 episode 8 showed up in the guide and metdata for chicago fire. attached is the other screen shots. it recorded from 8-9pm on jan 11th. so it wrote the file to the drive under chicago fire at 9pm. there was no will and grace recorded that day. its the same thing with when i pull the upcoming episodes list will and grac season 1 episode 8 which is 2017 season 9 episode 8 records tonight and then jumps to episode 10 on the 18th. wheres episode 9?
Gracenote is not going to fix the Will & Grace season naming as it follows the way the broadcaster (NBC) is treating the new Will & Grace (2017) as a new show and starting with Season 1. The Guide data in my opinion is displaying it as a new show correctly with the 2017 year based on the broadcaster website and other guide data providers such as TVGuide. Image below is from NBC page for the new show. As you can see they are identifying the new episodes as Season 1 with a link to get to the original series.
TheTVDB refuses to create a new show for the new 2017 show. I don’t record this show but actually added the new 2017 show to TheTVDB and it has since been removed. They refuse to have the new show since it has the same name as the original and the actors are the same. Apparently if it had new actors or the name was perhaps Will and Grace instead of Will & Grace then TheTVDB would change their stance. Obviously they don’t care that the people actually producing the show are treating it as a new show. I don’t record or watch this show so I am done with trying to get it resolved. I would suggest posting to their forum, and sending the Admins of TheTVDB private messages to try to get this resolved.
The guide data for your area for the Chicago Fire must have had it airing at the earlier time during Will & Grace. Unfortunately the logs you submitted did not go back to the time period when the show was recorded.
i get that neither side is going to fix it. but also when it records the 2017 episodes its saving it to the 1998 folder instead of 2017 which i would be fine with. if it downloaded into the 2017 folder where it belongs it would be great. but currently both 1998 and 2017 comin on the same guide and recording schedule as shown in previous pics. but the meta data also doesnt split it out as shown in previous guide listings. and if you look at pic 2018-01-13 17_58_57-Plex plex said it was recording episode 8 last night on the 14th of jan not the 4rth of jan. so im confused as toi which episode plex is actually recording? i look in the recorded history for last night and the 2017 s1 e8 showing isnt listed nor is there any file so did it error out? it was to record at 7 pm on the 14rth per previous photos attached. i included the logs and a screen shot of the two recording tabs that show no upcoming recordings for the 2017 will and grace and all the upcoming listings for 1998 with the 2017 mixed in as shown in previous shots attached prior.
i have the same thing happening in previous posted issues of the hawaii five-o’s that the 2010 season is mixing and blending in with the 1968 season both on files and guide datas s2 e23 is 2010 showing where rest is 1968 episodes both coming in under the same recordings and saving to the same files just the same as will and grace does.
When I first looked at the shows several weeks ago, probably sometime in December, I setup a test recording and it recorded as Will & Grace (2017). I now see that the Episodes are all grouped in with the old series repeats that have apparently started airing on an alternate channel since I setup my first test recording. Since the episodes are being grouped together like the Hawaii Five-O 1968 and 2010 series it would be a Gracenote issue and should be reported using the Gracenote EPG Data Issues Google Form.
still having issues with this reported it to grace note they said its a plex issue not determining the different years on the meta data.
