There is a show called Dust which has profiles on TMDB, TVDB and IMDB, but with slight differences.
TMDB uses seasons S1-S8 and TVDB uses seasons S2016-S2023, they are actually the same content, S1=S2016 and S8=S2023, but the Discover page shows them all, and the 8 seasons become 16 seasons, and you’ll need to merge these duplicate seasons.
I was able to have the show mostly correct using the structure shown below.
I did have to tweak things a bit:
Plex did not initially recognize the show. Fix Match worked. As did adding the TMDB ID to the folder name (I didn’t test it, but adding the TVDB ID should also work).
Plex uses TMDB & TVDB for TV shows. They both use the year for the season number. Name your folders & files accordingly.
TMDB & TVDB list different number of episodes for some seasons. You’ll have to choose which ordering you want (Edit the show → Advanced → Episode Ordering).
Plex did not pull down cover art for all episodes (See screenshots below. I’m using test files in lieu of actual show files)..
Edit: Plex Dance the show if you rename/reorganize the files. It removes previous matching information from the Plex database.
My files are named according to TMDB, and my library displays correctly according to TMDB, my library just shows the year as 2019, I’m guessing that’s because it’s 2019 on IMDB, and the duplicate seasons issue I mentioned is an issue with the Discover page, not my own library.
I mean the year of the show is 2019 is wrong, there is no problem with the season information in my own library.
Edit: Apparently there are either multiple shows called DUST or just a lot of bad info online.
On TVDB, the link to TMDB was incorrect, linking to a show from 2019. I corrected that entry. Also, the link to the IMDB pointed to a 2019 podcast series. I deleted that link, as I could not find a correct listing on IMDB.
That should help with at least some of the mis-match on things. Plex should pick up those changes in 48-72 hours. There may be other changes needed as well.
