I’m having issues with a single TV show, the first 7 seasons of this show match correctly and the last 6 do not.
I am using the Plex Agent and file names are consistent and match the naming guidelines. Here’s an example of a file failing to match
TV/The Great British Bake Off (2010)/Season 8/The Great British Bake Off - S08E01 - Cake Week 1080p.mkv
The other files match this naming scheme and match correctly. The show is matched to tvdb 184871. I’ve tried refreshing metadata, as well as the “plex dance” for that show, as well as viewing mkv metadata to ensure there’s nothing there.
My gut is telling me that some Plex Agent cache is corrupted, but unsure how to fix it
The only other thing worth mentioning is that if I go to edit metadata for one of these items, I see no locks and every field but “Originally Available” is empty. “Originally Available” is set to the day before unix epoch, which might just be a result some JS attempting to format a 0 date, ie: new Date(0)
Edit the show - pencil icon, at show level, not season or episode.
Choose Advanced
Scroll to Episode Ordering
Pick TheTVDB (Aired)
Refresh Metadata for the show (pencil icon) if Plex does not do so automatically.
FYI, Plex defaults to TMDB ordering for TV Show libraries. You can change it to TVDB if desired. Edit the library, choose Advanced, change Episode Ordering from The Movie Database to TheTVDB.
I’m curious, on tmdb it looks like this show is split in two. If I were to make my file structure match this, would I be able to use tmdb with"combine items" or is that not recommended?
That would not work. Plex does not have a way to combine shows.
If you want to use TMDB as a reference, you will need to name/organize your files to match the TMDB website. You might also ask them about combining their listings into one show. No idea if they will do so.
TMDB and TVDB frequently have different listings for the same TV show. That is why Plex has the option to pick the source.
