WTF guys - what did you do to On Deck - it's really AFU

So I’m a heavy user of On Deck for TV shows - I allow 80 weeks and 80 entries in On Deck. All of a sudden there’s this “Continue Watching” thing, and On Deck is gone, and “Continue Watching” has all of about 8 shows in it. This is totally messed up - it basically makes plex useless for me. I’m running plex on Unraid and with the latest Nvidia Shield. What a giant pain. I can’t even find release notes anywhere that tell me this was going to happen. I have to say I’m pretty unhappy with Plex right now (yes, I have a PlexPass)

We’ve been screaming about it since December 2020 - only to have it foisted on us anyway.

Here it is. Nice, ain’t it?

Now, with Manual Management going the way of the Dinos the trashing of Plex is nearly complete. Of course, with nowhere to go, it’s not being received very well by power users.

Power User:
Anyone with more than 5 items in their On Deck.

At one time I had 75. Then my friends and I decided that 35 was about right and now it seems that’s 25 too many for Plex.

You know, at one time I believed Plex was working for us. Turns out that’s not the case.

This particular problem has been acknowledged in a couple of threads; it’s going to be corrected.

Obviously it doesn’t help you (or anyone else affected by this change) today, but there is hope.

While the limitation is on the server for Continue Watch - the fact that “On Deck” disappeared from the Shield client didn’t help anything. I backed up to the previous version of the shield client and at least On Deck is now back the way it used to be. AFAIK Plex is responsible for the Shield client as well, and removing On Deck was a bad call before Continue Watching had been vetted for a while.

And people wonder why some people don’t update their servers and clients…

I enjoy having Continue Watching and On Deck as separate line items. As somebody said in another thread, a partially watched movie/show is NOT the same thing as the next episode in the series.

I have a Roku on one TV, and I can’t help but see that the Plex UI gets less user friendly with every change.

I know the developers work hard to implement their vision. I don’t mean to negate their skill or dedication to the project. And I get that sometimes feature changes are required because a finite amount of manpower required prioritization of goals.

I just sometimes get the feeling that either people who use the beta versions don’t generally submit feedback, or that feedback is largely ignored. I realize that people are more like to post here with complaints that with praise, but sure seems like with every cosmetic change there is at best a 50/50 approval/disapproval ratio.

From a programming standpoint, leaving the cosmetic features configurable is nothing that requires a mass amount of manpower to maintain. Its (figuratively) just a few lines of code that would allow for a “Combine On Deck & Continue Watching?” or “Display episodes in grid format?” toggle.

Heck, make cosmetic configuration a paid option we can add if you want a ROI.

Thank you for the report. The new combined CW should be following the number and weeks for on deck afaik.

It appears to be fixed in the latest version indeed.

It currently DOES NOT. I’ve mine set to 6 weeks and 40 items. Only 20 appear in CW so additional fixes are needed. In addition from within library/recommended/cw it only shows 6.

Not for me either - running the Shield April 1 client release and 1.22.2.4276server that I updated just a few minutes ago. Have 80 weeks and 80 ondeck, and still only getting 10 items in continue watching.

Yep things are definitely not right. There was a bug report made by someone else before I saw this thread.

Sigh… just bring back the On deck for all devices. Not cool Plex, not cool -__-

I just lost On Deck and ended up with a everything in CW.

I hate it. My CW now only has few items and even then I have to scroll back and forth to find the episodes of things I was part way through. CW does not obey the numbers and duration set on the server.

I upgraded to the latest server version but that hasn’t helped.

Also my plex firestick client now ignores resume and restarts everything from the beginning.

Please bring back on deck and make it switchable

I’m going to have to roll back to an old version and stop updating. Plex without the essential On Deck screen is useless.

Can I ask was this ever fixed yet?
I still see 6 items in CW. Though bizarrely doing a refresh of the browser (Edge-Chrome) shows many more for a fraction of a second then immediately goes back to 6.
PMS 1.22.2.4282

Nope, not fixed. We are all waiting on the 1.22.3.x server version which they say will fix it.
