Xbox 360 won't play particular episode

Hi everyone. So I’ve been connecting to my Plex server via my Xbox 360 and everything works great. I downloaded a TV series and I tried watching episode 1. The Xbox would sit at “opening” for a while and then fail with something like - “the file cannot be played”. Sometimes it would load like the first 3 seconds or so and then fail. It played on the plex web app and iPhone Plex app. Despite the fact that it played, I considered the file problematic. I downloaded the same episode from another source - it’s a different file all together. This file wouldn’t play either - same message. So I checked all the other episodes in the folder and they play just fine. So I downloaded 3 new files - different files - same problem. Again, they load just fine when using myplex and the iPhone app.

Does this make any sense at all? I’m stumped! I’ve done reloads of the storage device where Plex reads my movies/shows from, rebooted the xbox, same issue.

Any help is appreciated.

The Xbox has very limited codec support.

Do you have transcoding enabled on your Plex Media Server?

What codecs are used by the video files in question, and what container are they in?

Can you post log files?

Thanks Tyson - I knew this was all just too odd. But, the problem was definitely the Xbox. While is did great with _all_ other files I loaded, and it played them without a hiccup, I couldn't understand how it wouldn't play multiple versions of a particular episode - from different sources. Decided to try it our on the Roku and it works with no problem! It also works and handles far better as well, so I'm done with trying to get my Xbox to play movies/shows. It's not ready to replace a Roku, that's for sure  :) Thanks!
