I recently got an Xbox Series X so it is now forcing me to use the new app (cannot switch back out of Preview) and after 6 episodes videos do not continue to play. Plex just pauses and requires manual input. Is there anyway around this?
I never had issues with the old app, it’s the reason why I kept leaving preview but I don’t have that option anymore.
That feature was also in the old app. Plex will stop playback at the postplay screen (countdown page) if there is no user interaction after 2 hours. Maybe you were lucky and had a bug where that wasn’t working, but that’s been a feature since the post-play screen was introduced several years ago. There are discussions within Plex to allow users to disable this feature, but you can’t do that now. The only way to prevent playback from stopping is to either create a playlist and play that or if the client allows, enable the option to “repeat all”, then it will just keep looping forever.
I always put my show on shuffle and leave things playing. I am so disappointed that I am going backwards instead of forward with an app update.
I don’t know what’s changed, but the app has always had that limit.
Odd, I’ve bene using the app on an Original Xbox, then Xbox One X (two different ones), on a TV app (sony bravia) and all those apps always kept playing when I hit suffle. It is this new app that has stopped that entirely. I guess I will try to find a way to get it to work right, I have a show that I just loop for background noise.
Make the show into a playlist and play that. That won’t stop.
