XBox One "Buffering"

Server Version#: 4.41.1
Player Version#: 2.58.0.70

On starting the app tonight it announced a new version with new features and performance improvements. And … it doesn’t work! Everything I try to play just says “buffering” for like 20 seconds, then plays maybe half a second of content, then goes back to “buffering”. Over and over and over!

Seriously, does anyone actually test this ■■■■? And as a PAYING CUSTOMER .. no way to directly contact a technical support resource other than through forums? Who does business that way.

Essentially my Plex server is now useless to me, because the client app I use is broken. Anyone else having these issues? I see other references to “buffering” issues on consoles, but a lot of them are pretty old, and none seem to be all the time. I literally can’t play ANY content.

And it’s not the server. Windows client works fine, iOS client works fine. Web client works fine. I just can’t use my XBox One client on my TV!

I won’t be renewing my subscription. Now I just have to figure out what the replacement will be.

I have issues with my Xbox One also not total uselessness you report though. If I knew for 100% certain that all my issues would be resolved with an Nvidia Shield Id buy one in a heartbeat.

I EXTREMELY agree with your attitude regarding support. Im a paying customer too and find it hard to believe there is no avenue for personalized support for paying customers. I pretty much do not utilize any paid features and am considering canceling after having been a Plex Pass holder for years

What is the bitrate of the videos you are trying to watch? I have been having similar issues, but only with certain videos. The only thing I have found is the bitrate is higher on the videos where buffering occurs. And it usually occurs when there is a lot happening on screen (rain, particle effects, etc.)

Played the same videos on a Roku with no issues. Might be something with how the Xbox handles streaming.
