When ever I try to play a video on the Xbox one it just keeps buffering. It does not reach the point that it starts a video.
MIssing some important info here. What version of PMS are you running? Windows or what OS? I had the same issue that it would buffer or want to transcode on my Xbox One X. I updated my PMS version to the latest on my Windows 10 machine and all has been good.
Over the last month or so, Plex is unusable at 1080p when using my Xbox One X. Constant buffering on anything if set to 1080p/Original. This happens with an 10.4mbps video and even with a 5.5mbps video file.
If I set it to 720p (High 4mbps), everything works fine, but cannot go any higher.
Weird thing is, I have a 3.8mbps file which buffers on directplay, but again transcoding to 720p/4mbps it works.
Network speed test shows 60mb download so not a bandwidth problem, PMS is latest version ( 1.14.1.5488), I even downgraded to see if that would make a difference, but no change. Definitely something up with the Xbox app as no problems with ShieldTV or LG TV webOS
I am running version 1.14.1.5488 and running a windows os.
I have the same thing but even when I set it to run at 720 4 mbps it still doesn’t work
I also experienced a strange behaviour with the Xbox App…
When I started the stream of an 1080p video on Xbox the playback stops after a few seconds (11s in particular) and buffers forever.
Checking the dashboard on PMS tells me that only the audio is transcoded.
For comparison I tried streaming on Mac via Plex Media Player as well as Chrome. In both cases it ran smooth, without intermediate buffering (only difference was that for Chrome the audio was transcoded).
So I went back to the Xbox, clicking “resume at 2:xx min” and surprisingly it was playing smoothly as well now .
As of the time of writing all apps and servers are up to date:
- Chrome 71.0.3578.98
- PMP 3.77.2
- Xbox App
- PMS 1.14.1.5488
- Synology (DS214play) DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 4 (hosting PMS)
And no, the NAS was not in capacity limits CPU- or RAM-wise, as well as the wifi is fast enough.
I’m anxious to get some comments to that
pretty sure the xbox app is just broken, this seems to be an issue for most all people. try turning off direct play
