Xbox One video stutter

When viewing MKV or MP4 movies (2-7GB in size), the video will random drop framerate and appear to ‘stutter’. This is driving me crazy. Doesn’t happen when viewing the same files on my PC using Plex. I’ve killed any other running apps on the Xbox. Any ideas?

note - the ‘stutter’ is very subtle as though it’s a very slight fps drop. It’s noticeable to me but the wife and kids probably don’t notice it. It is driving me crazy. For instance if there’s a scene with a slow camera pan, the image seems to slightly stutter.

anyone? Does plex have official support since I pay?

Yup… experiencing this since XBOne Plex Agent was upgraded to v2.6.1 (quite recently, I think)… the effect you’re describing is called “Jitter” in video/audio CODEC nomenclature. It’s more than a little distracting!

Thanks. Good to know that jitter is the correct term. Perhaps that will improve my google searches.

Always had this problem on the Xbox, also with Netflix.
Since the Anniversary Update Preview on Xbox One it is finally stutter/jitter free for 23.976 fps content on both Plex and Netflix (like 99% of movies and US TV shows).

just watched a movie with no jutter. Perhaps there’s been an xbox client update that fixed it?
