Initial video is very juddery and poorly buffered on XBox One

This used to work fine but for about a month everytime I watch a video from my Xbox One the video stutters a lot for about the first 10-20 seconds as if it isn’t buffering enough. I don’t recall changing anything. What could cause this?

This seems to be an OS problem with mkv´s and nothing PLEX can do about it.

You can force a transcode of the video in the Xbox One app settings and the problem should be gone (But this is of course not ideal)

So this used to work just fine, are you saying that an Xbox update broke it?

Basically it should be this way since the NXOE update last November

Wasn’t that when mkv support was first introduced? Either way I was playing mkv files just fine for a long time before this started happing at the start of this month.

OK, then maybe this is another issue if it just started this month.

The previous issue should have been fixed by Microsoft. It was caused by the MKV starting playback immediately without buffering any data so it would starve itself before too long.

Is this with all MKV’s or just specific codecs? In either instance your Plex Media Server.log or a sample (~a minute of the video) would be helpful in trying to figure out what is happening.
