Xbox One X - 50Hz Video causes stuttering & dropping of frames

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364
Player Version#: v2.106.3 (client v5.49.3)

In the UK we watch TV at 50Hz, my Xbox is set to allow 50Hz playback with my projector.

This is a recent regression, but basically whenever I play back DVR recorded TV (1080p/i @ 50Hz) it continually now stutters - bringing up advanced playback information shows it is frame dropping.

I ran an Xbox network test, and it shows no issues.

I can playback 4K HDR @ 24Hz no issues, no frame dropping - if it can cope with this much higher bitrate then 1080P should not be an issue.

This is a 50Hz problem only, if I disable 50Hz in Xbox then it plays the same content at 60Hz fine.

Do you have display mode switching enabled and does it make a difference if disabled?

Can you also enable logging to server on xbox app, restart xbox (the entire device), try to play same item and then get the server logs

Yes, it’s enabled by default. Tried with it on and off, no difference.

I will PM you the logs.

Thanks.

Looks like another stuttering issue here with frame drops also, not sure if exact same problem as mine though

Any update  ?

Thanks for the sample file @e10kstarfire. I can reproduce the issue, and it’s very likely caused by a similar issue we’ve reported to Microsoft and are looking into. For now your only recourse is to force a transcode of the video stream unfortunately.

OK, thanks for the update :+1:

@Moussa any update? Still suffering from this issue

Bump again

@e10kstarfire We unfortunately do not have any updates on this issue at this time.
