Xbox Series X TS / MPEG2 support

Hello,

I’ve just bought an Xbox series X and wanted to implement Plex player. Almost everything is working fine except the mpeg2 and ts/mpeg2 playback. Plex player seems to not support this format without transcoding. Here is what i can see in the Plex Server logs:

When I want to play an channel from my DVR (in .ts container) I can see this entry:
[Grabber/1002-1zqetguetxls779sqgr6i6e8] MDE: : no direct play video profile exists for http/mpegts/

When I want to play mpeg2 video i can see this entry:
[Transcode] MDE: Korn - Live at Montreux 2004 (2008): no direct play video profile exists for http/mkv/mpeg2video/dca

I don’t want to use any transcoding and play everything in 100% quality (due to weak CPU on the server). Is there any plans to add this support in the next versions of Plex app on Xbox?

On Android Plex player everything is working fine.

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3711
Player Version#: 2.62.1.70

Hello? Are you there? Is there any chance to get MPEG2 support on Xbox?

No reply? Where I can get any support?

On documentation there is information that TS and mpeg2 is supported - so why it’s not working under Xbox??

This means Plex couldn’t identify the audio and video streams being used so it has to transcode them.

The Plex app does not support mpeg2video in an mkv container. This must use the .ts container. The app also does not support DTS audio. DTS was not usable on the previous devices. Not sure if this has changed with the Series X. The app hasn’t been optimized to support the series X yet, since it’s still a new device. For now, it will behave the same as on an XBox One.
