Xfinity and remote access woes

I’ve seen a few posts about this but not seen a proper solution that I can use yet.

I have a DS218 running the above version, I have an Xfinity (comcast) router with my NAS plugged in directly. But can’t get remote access. I enable it, it says it’s available and then a few seconds later it changes back to not available.

I’ve read that some people have to turn off Xfi security but I don’t have this enabled.

I’ve turned on port forwarding (32400) but still no luck.

I’ve tested using my phone without wifi connected and cannot access, it simply spins forever on ‘Loading Sources’ so it’s definitely not available outside my network.

Surely there are hundreds of people on xfinity and plex…anyone got it working at all?

I had the same issue when I first got Xfinity. I had everything port forwarded correctly, but Plex would show the green check mark for a few seconds, then go red. Remote connection was still available to everything except smart tvs. Not sure why that was the case. I ended up reading up on Xfi Security and how it causes issues with Plex. Just so you know, Xfi security is on by default. The only way to shut it off is through the app. I got the Xfi app and turned it off. All remote connections worked, including smart tvs. No issues since.

This solution appears to be N/A when the Xfinity modem is in Bridge Mode (which mine is). I get the same problem - enabled works for under 30 secs and then I get the not available message in my Plex screen.

I’ve spent hours trying every possible combination…I now have a message that says my server is available outside of my network…although from what I can see, the settings are the same as they were previously!!

but, all I get from an external device is this which says the server is ‘offline’
