XMLTV - ERROR - Error parsing XML

Hi Everyone,

So I’ve struck the same issue with specifying the xmltv file in the configuration when setting up the PVR. It auto maps the channels and then says that there is no program data in the xml.

I created the file using WebGrab+Plus

In the supplied options for Australia I can only get Brisbane which is about 2 hours from where I live and it has different stations and programming from where i live which is listed as Sunshine Coast on most of the guide services.

Just wondering if this item is still open for others and under dev?

XMLTV file linked below. I get the same error in the server log as mentioned by someone else.

I have also tested the file example file posted here and get the same error:

http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/XMLTVFormat

Is it possible to get an example file that will parse correctly so that I can compare with what I have?

Merry Christmas

Have not had a chance to test this on the lasted beta 4 redux however I suspect this has not been fixed. Getting very frustrating. I’m having guide import issues and timezone problems exactly like you are. I don’t even bother trying to use the DVR at present. Its unusable with the Gracenote database. At this point I’m not holding my breath for resolution on this issue. I’ve mentioned it quite a number of times in different threads over the last 2 months and get no response from Plex

Seeing exactly the same issue with an XML file from honeybee.it’s paid XML service (Scandinavia) - works great on multiple other systems, but Plex just kicks off ‘Error parsing XML’ after having matched and added the channels.

Getting this fixed would be great, as the EPG for this corner of Denmark has a lot of issues with missing channels. Not too impressed with Gracenote TBH.

Are you guys running pms on windows?

Yes mate I am. I looked at you error and think its something to do the the pythone library for the socket.py atleast that is what i found when looking it up. Without source code to debug we will have to wait for the Dev team to check it out. Im 100% sure its not the file or my install as we all habe the same problem.

I got it working using the ubuntu version running in a VM. Looks like it could be a problem with PMS on Windows

Nice one mate. Good thinking.

PMS on Windows here too. Might try spinning up a VM to test the theory  Nice catch.

I’ll load the beta up on my synology and see how it goes could be my dedicated drv i guess

so synology seems to work ok from a guide perspective. Using same guide as was failing on the windows machines

The import and EPG update worked without error but all of the show’s have been recognised as Movies rather than TV Shows … can you please post a xmltv file that is working and recognising TV as TV show?

Never mind i have found what i need and can see why its not importing corrwctly. The air date and episode information is missing. I will code up my own grabber in python so its correct.

Hey mate. Bit stuffed with a cold at the moment. I’ll try icetv, freepg and webgrabber from freeview when I’m feeling a bit better. Hard to get off the lounge at the moment

So i worked out that the webgrabber is not compliant against the xmltv dtd so im writting my own grabber. It is missing the episode details as well as the aired date for the tvshows which is why plex is seeing it as a movie.

Awesome job. Eager to hear about your findings

@SteveTempest Great to hear your working on it and @NwbElectrical also. Just done my first Ubuntu Hyper-V install on Windows 10 ready to test out when you guys get a bit further unless Windows PMS bug is fixed.

@SteveTempest how is it going? Does it work for you? Can you help us? I tried also with webgrabber+ but cant get it working correctly.
