XPlay (Android)

I did buy XPlay on my phone from the Play Store yesterday and sideloaded it to my Amazon Firetv’s (one in the bedroom, one in the living room), yesterday it did play fine in the bedroom, though stopped working today due to a license check.

Once XPlay is released in the Amazon Store, will there be a way to “move” the licesence over? Or did i just waste money?

First of all I want to say thank you for letting me know that the app works with fire devices. I tried to publish the app through the Amazon App Store and the Amazon’s quality team said that they couldn’t start it… Now I’m waiting a Fire TV stick for test and will try to publish it again.

No. Every store has his own billing system.

I’m sad that you think that you “waste” your money. At least you supported the development and I appreciate it very much.
Anyway if you think so - just email your google play order number to android@itkey.ru and we will think of how to return your money.

Indeed it does work! And is way nicer then the official application. If the license problem wouldn’t prevent further playing, it would become my new favorite player. I would even give up my beloved Plex for Smarthub player for this!

Waste as in: I have no android tv device and no tablet. The only devices I own that are connected to the Google Store are phones. What looks realy amazing and tidy on the Amazon Firetv is pretty much unusable on my phone. The posters are not realy distinguishable, as each post is like 1cm wide. Also when selecting a poster, the poster itself gets huge (of course cut of by the tiny screen) and no further navigation is possible. This makes sense as this app is not designed for phones. I am wondering why the Play Store even allowed to purchase it on a non android tv device.

Don’t get me wrong. Your application is awesome and I will definitly support you, but isn’t it better if it is a win win for both of us, if i actualy own a device i can use it with? Once it is on on the Amazon Appstore I will do an instant order

Yeah, it is. But now I’m working on adaptation for smartphones. Hope it will be ready soon.

Because some tv boxes use regular Android not Android TV.

Absolutely agree with you

Hi everyone!
After the last update (1.0.33) do you have any changes in quality of picture during playing video in the direct play mode?

Hi,
I tested with several videos of different qualities and I did not see any particular problem!

Thank you.
I’m just wondering maybe something is wrong but all users are so polite that don’t want to share their issues.

Just for your information about development:

  1. Now I’m working on adaptation for smartphines/tablets. Hope to show first version in several weeks.
  2. I should get a Fire TV 4K stick this week. After this I will try to publish the app at Amazon App store again.
  3. In several days I should get a Nvidia Shield controller for testing. There will be an update with fixing the issue that @bakes82 pointed to
  4. Also I work on fixing bugs, if I get crash reports or feedback from users, to improve stability.

After I finish #1 I will start to add new features to the app (subtitles loading, RTL, versions and so on)

Hello, after using Xplay for my Plex servers in Webos Lg, I discovered the Android application and I love it, it is very good and smooth.

I had a Zidoo X9S with kodi and Plex addon and it was not quite fine, I had problems with the hertz. Buy the app and although the Zidoo did not work on my Oled 803 Philips goes great with Nougat android, waiting for Philips to update to Oreo.

@DironDir any plans to open source some of the code. You could probably get more done/users if it was.

I have no such plans now.

Hi @DironDir,
I’m coming back to you about the problem of playing videos encoded with the XVID codec.
I have done extensive testing, transcoding works well. On the other hand, my NAS CPU runs at 100% during transcoding for 1 user. I do not even want to try with 2 users.

My question is :
With KODI, XVID video files passes without problems.
With Xplay LG App, XVID video files passes without problems.

Can not you use the codec of the device (Xiaomi Mi Box 3) to read this type of file?

Hi,

You know I need to think. Nvidia shield has Xvid/divx codecs on board too…

I need to take a look again… Sorry but it will take some time anyway

No problem
Thanks

Finally I’ve got my controller and checked the app behaviour.
It will be fixed in next update.

You know but it looks like I’ve found the reason  And all is much simpler than I thought
I need to test more files and I will publish a new release if everything is ok

It’s a good new !!!
Thanks !!!

Sounds good!

Can you make a row thing for the home ui of the shield like the Plex app that shows next up or recent added so you don’t need to got into the app to see those?

Yes it is possible. But a little bit later.

the 1.0.35 version has been published. It will be available for installing in about 30 minutes

fixed issues with mpeg4 and using a controller
@Th0mAs and @bakes82 please take a look at the release
Hope everything is okay now
