Hi everyone!

Sorry for being silent for a long time but I have very funny twins now and this took all my time
I hope to get back to the app soon and release a new update ASAP.

So if you are using or have used the app and have what to say - I will be happy to hear any feedback.

Hi! Definitely still looking for a good Plex client if the anamorphic issues of full screen stretching can be resolved. Plex official still has framrate issue.

Congrats on twins!

Thanks.

Hope the next update will be on the next week.
It will be more about bugs fixing and updating used libraries.
After this I’m gonna work over development the app.

Hi everybody!

You could find a new release of the app under the link: Get it on Google Play

Version: 18.1023.0

I made a new link for this version because I’m afraid that something could be wrong.
So if you have any problems you always will be able to roll back to the previous version by the link in the first post of this forum.

Hope everything will be fine

As I wrote before this release is update for used libraries. Has some interface changes but features are the same.

MASSIVE improvement. Interface looks slicker, haven’t had any random crashes and the anamorphic issue seems to be resolved! Tested on a 4:3 SD, displays properly as opposed to full screen now, and an anamorphic widescreen doesn’t display full screen either. Great job!

Minor thing I’ve just noticed. If you want to pick up and resume part way through a tv show episode, when you click the episode in continue watching on the home screen and then the specific episode from the season menu that comes up, it automatically starts at the beginning. Instead, you need to go to the three dots to the side of the episode and play from there, where it then gives you the resume option.

Thanks a lot for your help.
I appreciate it.

Now you can get the latest version with the link in the first post too.
If you use the app you can update it through settings\about

New version is available.
Fixed several annoying bugs with navigation. The app should be more stable.

Also I want to remind that the app’s interface is not adapted for smartphones and tablets. It needs a remote. TV and TV box only.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your help and great effort to create this app.
I had a problem while playing an episode from GOT, the file is : Game of Thrones/Season 01/Game.of.Thrones.S01E01.1080p.10bit.BluRay.5.1.x265.HEVC.mkv, it’s keep stopping each 10 seconds.
I played it on Sony Z ultra (RAM 2GB, processor snapdragon 800 2.2 GHz) over WIFI 2.4GHz.
I am aware that this app it’s not designed for mobile phones, but can you grantee that it will support all videos (10bit.BluRay.5.1.x265.HEVC.mkv - 4K) with nVidia shiled TV box.

Why I didn’t play it on a TV box? because I don’t have one.
Why I tested this app? because I will buy a TV box but it depends only on XPLAY (I wish if it works smoothly as the web OS version) as I hate PLEX (doesn’t support subtitles in certain languages).

I hope you can fix it with new updates.
Thanks
A.H.

Hi,

I need to try playing this episode. I guess the reason of the stops is buffering.

Now I can say only that there are many reasons which do not depends on the app: hardware, media formats and so on.
Movies in good quality could be huge and it strongly depends on hardware and network bandwidth, for example.
In the past there were problems with playing (see here XPlay (Android) - #51 by Speziald)
But since that were several updates and this information needs to be checked again.
Maybe someone will say something more about own experience
Only thing I can guarantee now is that I’m going to work on the app to make it better.

When can we expect a new and fresh update?

The new update I think will be in the last of this week or somewhere in the strart of next week.
But as I said before the reason of your stops - buffering that means that your network’s bandwidth is insufficient.
for the test I played the same episode on my Pixel 2 smartphone over 2.4 GHz network (direct playing without transcoding). Everything are fine. There were no stops
I can conclude that your hardware is not enough. And first of all you need to check your network.

I have no new feedbacks.
Please don’t be silent if you have what to say about your experience with the app or you have opinion how the app should work!

Well, I have been playing around with several versions of Plex on a nuc (embedded) this on android, & the normal plex on android. So I haven’t actually spent a lot of time trying this.

Xplay seems to work very well. One thing, I like to play around change the look etc. So, I would like more options to change the layout.

Or, ideally, be able to install, dare I say it, Kodi skins.

Thanks for your opinion.
I think creation a set of layouts is real (as an element of settings), but I have not thought about user’s skins yet.
I guess it could be realized in future somehow. It’s a good idea, why not.

Does XPlay work on the new Firestick 4K and handle HEVC natively without transcoding?

It should work on 4K and play HEVC if a device has this codec on board.
But I have not tested the app on a such device yet.

Thanks for the response. The official plex app will direct play the video and transcode the audio and the opposite would occur with xplay.
