It is true !
If you play a video for 30 seconds and stop it, the playback time is good.
But if we play a video for 20-30 minutes and we stop it, the playback time is not saved and the video is marked as view!

I do not know if it is WebOS 2.2 which is problematic but as said @z1z , without this function, the application is not really useful …

So please @bublikoff , can you take our request into consideration?

Since my last comment 5 days ago, there have been 2 versions published: 817 and 818
Unfortunately, the resume function still does not work …

And the option “Auto play next episode” not working… It’s the same episode that is played in a loop …

@bublikoff Hi, can you increase internal player buffer to handle video bitrate spikes by keep it fulfilled? For 4K video spikes sometime may be >100Mbit/s and player stuttering. But if we could download some part of stream ahead it will be played fine. My TV is LG oled55c7v with latest available WebOS.
Maybe keep video parts inside application buffer, not in player… I can test this feature and give feedback if you implement.

I tried several app :

  • official plex : resume function is OK
  • emby : resume function is OK
  • PlayPMS : a very basic plex client and the resume function is OK too !

Do not force us to change the application please…
It’s the simplest function ever!

Just started using the App however it seems to connect to my VPN network IP even if it’s turned off ??? And not to my local IP address. If I select that it says it cannot connect. Guess because if this I am
Suffering hanging playback!? Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?? Thanks!

Yeah the developer has abandoned the app.
Time to move on.

I will be buying Android TV’s in the future to avoid dependance on awol minuscule developers.

It’s super unfortunate. There was a great working app that did pretty much everything i needed. The developer then decided to revamp the entire thing, push it out poorly tested, and then abandoned it. He seems to have completely lost (likely due to poor developer practices) the original code. So he can’t even restore the original app to users who it worked well for. He effectively took the money for a specific product, then broke it, but kept the money.

Utterly immoral and frustrating.

I use the app daily, for TV series and movies, with UHD movies and subtitles. Besides the period of the Great Update Problem, I never have serious problems.
I like the app. It works well for me. I understand it sucks that it doesn’t work in some individual cases, but it annoys me to read that these cases are made to look like they represent all users.
You have the right to complain if things don’t work for you and you feel ignored, but please be adult about it. You don’t speak for everyone. Be an adult about it.

We were adults. I reported numerous issues. I reached out over many mediums to work with the developer to resolve problems. I offered my services as a dev to restore broken functionality and to help recover the original app. I offered to debug and provide any and all information that would lead to even basic stuff working again. This was all rebuffed, numerous times.

Bully for you. I have three TVs where things have basic problems all the time (i.e. can’t even resume a movie properly), and one TV that wasn’t updated (which is still on the original version) where things work properly across literally thousands of movies/TV-shows.

The dev has stopped responding here. He’s stopped doing anything on twitter.

The only thing he seemed willing to consistently and perpetually do was blame LG, while being unwilling to make existing users whole. You ask for people to be an adult, but his own behavior is what drove the anger and frustration to this point. It wasn’t necessary and it could have been easily avoided.

As someone who is a developer and who has shipped software myself (i.e. working for myself, and not for a company) at the scale of millions of units, i cannot excuse this behavior at all from the dev.

I have an LG 55B8 and bought the app, but now I have a big problem.
There are movie files which don’t play the first (and only important) audio track.

For example, I have movies with different language audio tracks. The English (original) one is the only one I’m interested in, but, it just won’t play!
The audio track shows up in the menu, but when I play the video, it automatically plays the next language. There is no way to play the first and English audio track, it just gets ignored?

I can select the English audio, but it will just play Spanish or whatever is the second audio track.
No way to get the original audio!

Emby can play it in English without a problem and without transcoding, no problem!

How can I resolve this issue, because it’s ridiculous to not being able to watch movies in their native language!

Please advise for a solution,

Any chances you can add the “Are you still awake?” feature? It should ask you, after few hours of playing, if you’re still awake or not so it doesn’t go on playing the entire season while you’re snoring on the couch :smiley:

  • Home users no longer work.
  • We do not even talk about the resume function.
  • Problem with the dashboard.
  • Application that consumes too much memory and crash (either the application restart, or it is flatly my television that restarts)

I say BRAVO !!! Congratulations @bublikoff !!! you make the opposite of what users are waiting for !!! BRAVO !!!

We are soon in August 2019 !!! And each version you publish looks like BETA versions or even ALPHA!
It is incomprehensible on the part of a guy who calls himself a developer!
10 months ! 10 months using an application not finished!
And you, @bublikoff, who pretend to hear nothing and who can do nothing but blame LG!

I think the most boring in history is that this guy does not keep us informed about anything!

This is the basis ! Especially when many users complain about things that do not work!

To speak about beta or alpha you should understand tech aspects. What about release date … It’s also not correct. First of all LG store shows release date not update. Last update that was spreader over official LG store was in May. Last update using own mechanism was published several days ago. Own mechanism does not require any steps from user to get this update. A bit later today I’ll make a post about issues with the app and tech aspects about them. I’ve already told many times here that not all things depends from the app. The app have to work with tech aspects and problems of PMS and webOS. As for small eg … sometimes pms may return error when someone requests media content but HTML video tag cannot correctly handle such error. It dies not report about playback problem to the app. And the result leads to red spinner issue in the app. And further more it breaks any possibility to have success media playback when user will try to play any media even if pms will return correct media content. Such issue cannot be fixed in the app.
And etc etc … For eg at home I do use the same app and have no problems with any playback. But in virtual webOS I almost every time cannot start any playback. The same app the same app code … But different behavior. The is only one way to play media in HTML especially if we don’t speak about transcoding mode.

I know very well that the last version is 2.715.821, of which I make you a small summary of the bugs encountered:

  • Home user does not work anymore
  • Resume function only works half (the information is not sent to PSM and stays locally in XPLAY
  • High memory consumption which causes the crash of the application, or even the restart of the TV
  • DTS audio dropout when pausing a movie and resuming playback

It’s a shame, because this application had everything to be perfect …
