xTeve / Plex "This live TV session has ended"

OK I got it going in the Mac ‘Plex’ client now. I had to go to the ‘Plex for Mac’ section in the Mac client, debug and uncheck BOTH direct play and direct stream.

Not sure I like that, but it’s getting us further down a path to figuring out what’s going on I reckon.

I am getting this same error using HDHomeRun Prime and Plex on ubuntu 20.04. Runs for a few minutes and then I get a playback error.

Live streaming from HDHomeRun on 1.24.5 branch definitely appears broken on synology, reverted to PlexMediaServer-1.24.0.4930-ab6e1a058-x86_64_DSM7.spk
Seems to work. (only version I had backed up)

I’m running plex in a container on RHEL 8 and I’m using the official plex container from Docker Hub. I have a HomeRun Connect DUO and running Plex Version 1.25.3.5409.

In Chrome or chromium based browsers (Brave) I always get “The live TV sessions has ended” around the 4 minute mark. Its the same for Firefox. On my Apple TV its inconsistent, sometimes 10 minutes sometimes an hour but it always stops playing at some point.

I’ve tried some of the settings mentioned in this thread with no luck.

I did notice that my transcode directory is only 2G,. I’m going to increase that to see if it helps. When watching Live TV (iPad, AppleTV) it fills up to the 96% mark but its intelligent enough to know this and doesn’t fill it up.

The Live TV has been very inconsistent since I started using it about 3 years ago. I’ve never been happy with it. No matter the platform I’m watching Plex Live TV always seems to crash. The Movies and TV shows I add work great 99% of the time and I happy with that.

Hopefully this weekend I’ll have time to do some more troubleshooting.

Live TV needs lots of temporary storage from a streaming tuner, high side estimate would be 10GB per hour per stream.

I kind of figured it needed more than 2G. I just added all the available space I had left in the VG and its at 6.5G now. I was thinking 10 - 20G and will add it this weekend. Also need to look at disk utilization.

I’ve increased the space for the transcode directory and ran Live TV on my Apple TV for 3 hours yesterday with no issues. Transcoding for Live TV was using 4.5G for each tuner.

The browser problem still exists. 4 minutes and done. ugh!

Use the hosted version of the web client from https://app.plex.tv; the problem doesn’t occur with that version.
