"Your changes could not be saved" after changing library agent

Server Version#: 1.25.0.5246
Player Version#: 4.66.1

I recently accidentally changed my TV Shows agent to “Personal Media Shows”, so I quickly tried to change it back to “Plex TV Shows”, but every time I try, Plex gives me the error “Your changes could not be saved”. I have tried rebooting the server but this didn’t seem to change anything. Changing the visibility settings seems to save properly but the library still doesn’t show up in the Home Screen afterwards. I am pretty sure no scans are going on, so I’m not sure what to do to fix this.

EDIT: Here are my logs attached to this post.

Also, now when I try to go to “Live TV & DVR” it just gives me a nonspecific “There was an unexpected error” message. I’m worried something has been corrupted.

You installed your own certificate ?

CURL error 60 is a certificate error.

I don’t believe so - I don’t recall doing anything like that >.>

a DSM self-signed certificate ??

Looking at your account shows the Synology server was created about a year ago,

The initial instance hasn’t been seen in 14 days.
The current instance was created 12 days ago, last seen 15 minutes ago.

Sound about right?

Yeah, I migrated my drive to a new NAS about that long ago, but everything was working perfectly until I accidentally fiddled with the agent settings.

Agent settings won’t prevent you from changing them back; Internet connectivity and CURL errors will block it. (Plex.tv maintains your agent settings to aid in retrieving metadata for you)

If the server can’t communicate to plex.tv, it won’t be able to save the settings changes.

The certificate on the account is valid:

	Thu, 18 Nov 2021 19:14:13 +0000	Thu, 18 Nov 2021 19:14:22 +0000

There is a certificate issue in there somewhere. FQDN https access address ? Proxy? modem/router? something

Is there some way I can refresh the certificate so I can change those settings inside Plex again? Preferably without deleting my whole server D:

Also,

You have both adapters plugged into the LAN on the same subnet.
This is not best practice.

If you want both on the LAN , Bond them. (this can also cause confusion)

Please consider bonding the adapter first and restarting Plex. That’s a better configuration anyway … it’s compliant with TCP/IP networking industry standards too.

Okay I can do that soon, but is there some way I can fix the certificate issue?

I’m contemplating.

Did you do a full copy of the entire host ? including the cached certificate ?

I just bonded the network interfaces, then rebooted the server, but I still see the error in Plex. :frowning:

I just took the drive out of the old NAS and put it in the new one, being sure to let the system migrate the drive over and reinstall the OS first.

OK… now lets go one more step.

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Open FileStation
  3. Navigate PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Cache
  4. Delete cert-v2.p12 (this is the local cached copy)
  5. Start Plex
  6. Give it a few extra seconds to download the cert fresh.

( I want this as clean as possible to ensure success )

Nope, I’m still seeing the error where it won’t let me change the agent :frowning:

This is only happening with the TV Shows library where I accidentally changed the agent - all of the other libraries are working fine. Is there any way I can manually force this change back?

Oh I think I solved it! All I needed to do is change the agent specifically to TheTVDB, and then changed it to Plex TV Series, and it worked this time!

may I see your logs please to make sure that’s all clear now too ?

Of course - thanks again!

@QuestForTori

Thanks for the logs.

Now I’m seeing what I want to see.

Please restart the server.

I’ve reset the certificate for you to finalize the cleanup
