Server version 1.41.8.9834
Synology DSM 7.2
Windows 10
Description: Up until now, I’ve been uploading albums normally. I uploaded the last one two months ago. A few days ago, I updated the server, and yesterday I tried to upload another one using the same method:
Manage library > edit > add folders > view media folder > volume 1 > Music > Dire Straits > Dire Straits > Alchemy (1983) > add >…
And it says: (Your changes could not be saved).
Furthermore, I can’t make any changes to this library, but I can to all the others.
Just noting… you shouldn’t have to add every single album. Just point the Plex library in question at the library folder.
As for the error message… does it persist after rebooting your server and optimizing your database (Settings > [Server Name] > Manage > Troubleshoot)
Thanks for your reply.
The error message persists after restarting the server and optimizing the database.
Since I’m new to this, I don’t know how to direct the Plex library in question to the library folder (volume 1 > music).
Music is the folder I have on the NAS, which also contains folders for many bands. For example, in the case of Dire Straits, I have their entire discography, but I don’t want to upload all the albums (just in case it helps).
When you edit a library (Manage Library > Edit…), you pick which folders to add to your library. If you add individual albums, Plex will miss some of the folder structure it expects inside a library folder. That could cause issues with matching the music and properly organizing it inside Plex (or using advanced features).
Not sure why you don’t want to add the full library. There’s no „upload“ to anywhere. Plex will just catalogue the library.
You’re absolutely right, I set it up wrong from the start. I’ll open another library and transfer my entire discography. Thank you so much for your help.
