Neighbours - recording started at 10:54:30am, failed about 30 seconds later with “There as a transcoder error”. I’m also unable to watch live tv at all. I’ve restarted the computer and confirmed that my usb tv tuner is still showing up.
I had this issue when I initially upgraded to this version (plex pass beta), so I uninstalled and went back to an older, stable version and also set myself back to public updates only. It was just released to the public today so I assumed it would be better.
I have also confirmed that I am up to date with my windows updates.
How did you revert to previous version. By uninstall current one and then install previous version. Or there is simpler process, because i can not execute installation by .exe of previous version unless current is removed.
Ok I decided to do a clean install of 1.13.8. “Transcoder error” still there; will not allow any DVR recording. Going back to older version.
Anyone know how to download the 1.13.7 update. My latest I saved is from March 2018.
Thanks
I’ve heard that you can check your Web Updates folder (or something similar), apparently it keeps previous versions in there. I haven’t used this method myself because I run it as a service and manually download updates.
On windows 10, previous versions are in
C:\Users\cedric\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates
If I unistall and reinstall an older version, will I have to re-enter all my recording scheduling, channel customizations etc? Or does Plex keep them somewhere safe like in the DB.
In my experience if you uninstall your current version and then install an older version everything is retained. I’ve only ever gone back 1-2 versions though.
Does anyone have any word at all from Plex on this? It seems that this latest version has completely broken DVR recording and there desn’t seem to be any rush to issue a quick fix, or even to acknowledge the problem.
Fortunately I managed to find the prior version’s installed in the updates folder to roll-back my “initial proof of concept” PMS on my Windows PC, (using a Hauppauge quad-HD card).
But having had to hurry up the timeline (for other reasons) for building my “proper” server - on a Synology NAS using HDHomeRun tuners - that is of course also completely broken for DVR recording, and the only older version I could find to roll-back to is the 1.13.4 package in the Synology repository… which from early tests seems to have some stability issues itself
It’d be nice to at least know that the problem is acknowledged, and a rough ETA of when a new version including a fix might come out!
Having the same issue with 1.13.8.5395 I have a WinTV Quad HD also. I had it working on an earlier verion, but I had to limit it only one DVR. If I have the 2 DVRs added for all 4 tuners, it has transcoder errors every time. Will uninstall and reinstall an earlier one and hope for the future.
I expected the Plex DVR features to work as advertised, so far it has been a struggle to get it to work at all.
Ive got same issue. DVR and live TV completely broken in 1.13.5395. Ive now got massive gaps in my recordings because nothing has recorded since 24 Sept. Really really annoyed - this version is released now too so I have to question testing and quality procedures.
Uninstalled and put in an earlier version - still no luck. Plex does not seem to be a reliable program to use as a DVR. Time to look for something else.
