The version had actually been released publicly.
Just the release announcementā€˜s been a bit late.

DO NOT USE THIS [1.40.0.7998 update] It will break your libraries. It clearly is not ready for public release. Some clown must have marked it as Public when it really had not been tested.

Working just fine for me, the beta and now the public.

Libraries have not broken at all.

Canā€™t delete files from library from smart tvs. Canā€™t access libraries from smart tvs after this update in Qnap NAS? Works ok from computer to nas.

I actually had an issue with it breaking libraries as well but it didnā€™t happen until I decided I wanted to split some of my content into separate libraries (I wanted a kids library) so a bunch of content was removed and a new library added and suddenly I couldnā€™t access the ā€œrecommendedā€ or home pages anymore but I could still search for content and play it. I ran the Plex DB repair tool and after doing a metadata update on the libraries (which also triggered a rescan) all but one library came back but I still could not access the home screen. I ended up reverting to a backup.
