IMDb has 10 Star Ratings. So this is actually what set's the standard.
You already have it in some of your Apps. So this is pretty inconsistent.Well, I like the idea -- but I note that Netlfix doesn't give me 10 (and I wish it would).
I'm queued up to vote for this, unless smart people pop in and explain why not to... :)
Often you can only vote whole stars but they show half stars too to better show the actual average.
I would love a 10 point scale, preferably, just show the number instead of the stars (i.e. 6.8 rating instead of counting the number of stars all the time).Â

The numeric is apparently available through the API since some skins do render it the way you wish... so it's a skinnable choice.
bump
I’d like to see this implemented. This is already supported by some clients (plex mobile and plexamp are two I know of, but I am sure there are others) so I am not sure why it is inconsistent across players. I’d like to see plex web and plex media player ideally implement these half star ratings in order to be consistent with the other players.
I am also interested in this feature. I can rate songs with half stars from the mobile app, but they show up in only whole star increments in the web app (displayed rounded down, but when I click “edit” they display rounded up). Being able to create smart playlists for 3.5+ stars, 4+ stars, 4.5+ stars, etc would be nice. I am currently on the newest version, 1.15.6.1079.
Yes, please add half stars on PMP and/or Plex windows app. Would be very helpful.
This is something that should definitely be changed not only just for parity between all of the different Plex platforms and so consistency is had for all, but also so users can actually rate things properly on all platforms. Currently if I want to rate anything, I only do it on mobile so I can use half stars.
Yes I agree with this. I would even consider the fact that a half star rating displays rounded down in the web app, rounded up from the web app edit song modal window, and to true half-star precision in the mobile view a bug.
You are fighting a losing battle.
Plex doesn’t really care about any kind of ratings.
If you really care about half stars then you need to use a iOS/Android Mobile app. But even after that no client whatsoever (other than mobile) will ever see that half star rating.
A three and a half star (a seven rating) set in mobile will show as 3 or 4 stars in all others Plex clients.
Whether that shows as 3 or 4 stars in those clients will depend on numerous factors. (Namely, the client involved, the weather forecast in your local area next month and obviously your age, gender and your countries national sport).
As a side note things like ratings in something called trakt.tv is something that no Plex dev or the higher echelons at Plex has ever heard of.
2 out of 2 emby devs care about ratings and trakt.
3 out of 3 jellyfin devs care about ratings and trakt.
1 out of 1 infuse dev care about ratings and trakt.
0 Plex devs, or higher have ever heard of trakt.
Don’t get me wrong… things like skip intros are cool. I’m a huge fan of many Plex features and the main reason why I will not ditch Plex. But there are at least 30 threads with between 3 and 954 posts each on reddit about the lack of media ratings(and Trakt) in Plex as why they switched to far less impressive media server options.
Totally agree with this. 5 stars is not enough to distinguish different releases for me and only having them on mobile apps, but not the web client is really limiting. Please bring consistency to this matter with 10 stars!
The iOS app allows for half stars. I use Trakt and the half stars crosswalk to the odd numbers on the 1-10 scale
Yeah, I think 10-star ratings should really be added. It doesn’t even need to be sweeping at this point since Plex Web uses half-star ratings already. If you set a playlist of 3+ stars and rate something in PlexAmp 3.5 stars, it is included. So the data is already there, it is just a simple matter of displaying it. It is really frustrating for me when I use Plex Web and want to rate a track specifically but lose out on the sorting system I have already made on PlexAmp that can’t be used without half-star ratings.
Also available on the Android app, but strangely not on web.
Following up again to see if there has been any progress on this feature request. Relatedly, I am unable to create smart playlists that can filter on half-star ratings. A work around would be to support both “is greater than” and “is greater than or equal to” filters (e.g. I can currently do “rating > 4”, but cannot do “rating >= 4” or equivalently “rating > 3.5”).
Totally agree. The inconsistency is really annoying. Besides I use Plex in combination with Trakt. When rating an episode / movie it will be synced. But at the time it is just possible to rate from 1 to 5. This means I can’t rate the Trakt-way and am missing the steps between. It would be nice if I could control my ratings from Plex and do not have to switch to Trakt just to rate my media.
This bug has become even more severe in light of this bug I found: Song ratings broken on Android app. As long as the rating feature on Android is broken, there is no longer any way for me to rate songs in half-star increments.
That’s pretty much where I’m at too and as you say it works extremely well.
Not as slick as the ability in Infuse to set the rating after viewing But now Plex has added a recently watched section it’s fairly easy to go back a day or two and set the rating.
On a more positive note personally, I absolutely love that the ATV 4K shows personal (and accurate) ratings for watched movies right alongside the Rotten Tomatoes/Metacritic ratings.
