2012 Mac Mini Media Library Missing and cannot manage

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244
Player Version#:

I recently lost access to my library and saw mention that server versions higher than 1.29.0 have been giving trouble to Mac Mini users using Mojave. That’s my situation so I went back down to 1.29.0. All of my libraries are missing from the left margin, being replaced with "?"s. When I go into setting and try and manage my libraries, it says there was an unexpected error. See photos?

Help?

Personally, I’d just go ahead and upgrade to Catalina 10.15.7 as it’s the very last OS version you can go with 2012 Mac Mini’s. I’ve specifically catered all 2012 Mac minis to Plex Servers and they all run Catalina just fine.

Try doing the obvious first. A reboot of the machine.

You can reopen Plex to see what happens. If you still don’t see a change, Shut down Plex Server completely. I’m hoping you have the Backup every three days checked off in your settings because that’s how you can recover from a database malfunction.

Go to your SCHEDULED TASKS tab in Settings and copy and paste the Backup directory. Shutdown your server.

Using the Finder’s “Go” menu, select Go To Folder… then enter paste the directory path in the dialog box that pops up:

You’ll be taken to your backups.

Delete the most recent .db file highlighted in blue. Find the most recent database backup and delete the -2022 date after .db

Reopen Plex Media Server and see if your library data is back.

I manage four 2012 Mac Mini’s, each all running the latest Beta version of Plex Server and Catalina. I’ve not run into major issues like the one you’re experiencing.

Thank you for this information! The backup db saved me! Thank you! This is the first time I’ve had to use that backup and very glad that it was defaulted on.

I understand the suggestion to upgrade to Catalina but unfortunately, my Mac Mini is suffering from something. I am unable to upgrade past MacOS 10.14.6. Every attempt to upgrade to Catalina (or to the very last security update for Mojave for that matter) results in a never-ending reboot loop requiring me to fully install 10.14.6 over again. Believe me, I’ve tried everything and have spent hours trying to figure it out. I’m OK with just sitting on 10.14.6. I only use this Mini for Plex and it does the job.
