I restored PLEX from time machine backup (1 day ago) and it eventually failed in same exact way. I ended up following Restart Plex Media Server Setup from Scratch | Plex Support using the “Remove Libraries and Data” for MacOS and reinstalled plex with a fresh download. It works now but had to setup DVR/Scheduled Recordings/etc. glad it works but slightly painful the Remote Access and things like that worked without having to set it all back up again… so a good “meet in the middle” resolution i guess.

Mine died yesterday after the latest update. I can’t seem to find any older versions anywhere on the plex site

Have you installed Updates previously on this Mac. If so follow my instructions in this discussion.

I think I’m going to have to go the rollback route. Unfortunately I can;t do this on the Apple TV (currently running TVOS 14.7, which seems to break Plex very thoroughly.)

Have you thought about

I had not, but now I am. Thanks for the pointer.

I rolled back the server on the Mac Mini, which barely helped anything, and ended up updating back to where I was…which worked for a bit, until the server crashed while doing library updates.

The tvOS app is barely talking to the server, and the ipadOS app isn’t talking to the Mac at all (but does see the smaller server on the laptop.) Posters/covers are loading horribly slowly, and content can’t be accessed if the images aren’t there.

While I’m typing this the Littlemac server just vanished again.

How the hell did you manage to turn Plex into this stinking pile of garbage, developers? Was the lure of ad money so huge?

I’m going to experiment with Jellyfin. This has gotten too frustrating.

I’m rolling back to one of the 1.22 versions. This really is untenable — an attempt to do a library scan caused a crash within a minute.

PMS on my mac mini (Catalina) stopped working yesterday. I installed the June 4 update, but still no luck. Have you found a solution?

Going back a distance, the last public 1.22.xx stable release seems to be the option of choice. Now I have to dig it out of the updates folder, I guess.

I just had the current hot mess running. It got me through 40 minutes of a TV episode before a music library update caused it to roll over and point toes in the air.

I had the same issue…turned out to be a corrupted database. Fortunately, your computer saves older versions of the db, found in Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases. You will need to delete these db files - com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db and com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
Then remove the date at the end of the corresponding older files - e.g. com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-2021-05-15 and com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-2021-05-15
Finally, it’s suggested that you delete these other two files - com.plexapp.dlna.db-shm and com.plexapp.dlna.db-wal

Here is a link to a page on repairing db files - Repair a Corrupt Database | Plex Support

In my case, the repair didn’t work, but restoring form the previous dated db files as I just described did work great.
