2025.15.0 (1053) iOS roll out broken live tv playback for anyone else?

This is odd, as 18 works on iPadOS and TvOS. Considering these would be very similar releases. Anyway on previous releases a new Guide on server helped. It’s worth a try, make sure your iPhone is not in use at the time.

Cheers

yeah well I can restart the iPhone, however on TVOS (in the new app) I do not get it in how I can change days in the EPG to e.g. see what is being streamed tomorrow on the channel etc. need to seek the guide  well the same applies on the “former” app in TVOS. Its easy in iOS (but not working)

Correct ATV guide more than 24hrs is an issue, I have reported this to the Plex Representative in the Testing Group forum

Exactly, its not working on iOS, it works on Web and on TVOS in the former player (look & feel much better currently). I also re-installed the app on iOS, didn’t helped. EPG >24h is not working

btw where is the testing group forum ? happy to contribute

Same here! The last PMS version (macOS) that seems to allow me to use Live TV is 1.41.6.9685…

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685 through 1.41.7.9823 - 1.41.8.9834
Player Version#: iOS 2025.18.0 (1109)

Lifetime Plex Pass member here.

I’m using Plex on a Mac Mini M1 with clients on Apple TV 4K, iOS, iPadOS - and with a SiliconDust HD Home Run Flex 4K. Everything has been working great for years - until I installed 1.41.9823 and up.

My Movie, TV Shows and other local libraries still stream just fine, locally and remote. Live TV is completely shot. The apps either freeze/lock up, or I get the message that my tuner can’t be found. The web interface will show live TV maybe 30% of the time. Sometimes I get a Program Grid that is blank.

Of course, other apps that use the tuner (like Channels DVR) continue to function perfectly.
The only way I’ve been able to resolve the issue is to keep downgrading back to 1.41.6.9685.
This is not the degree of effortless video hosting I’ve come to expect from Plex.

Any suggestions or has anyone experienced a similar issue with Live TV? I’m happy to share logs, more information etc to help effect a solution or work around.

Also on IOS version 2025.18.0, Still no audio on Live TV,

Do we actually have any acknowledgement from plex on this issue yet?

Live TV still not working on 2025.19.0

So i noticed something last night

When playing live TV on IOS, Plex appears to be transcoding the audio using OPUS, IOS doesn’t support OPUS natively so this could be as simple as a missing codec

It’s just a shame that the Plex devs are either oblivious to it, too busy firefighting issues in the app, or just blatently don’t care

Either way, the new app should have been pulled the day it went live, when you realise a new build has this many issues you take it back out of prod and revert to a “known good” build

iOS 2025.18.0 (1109) has failed to fix the lack of audio with Live TV from my HDHomerun 4 tuner receiver. My experience is as follows:

After reinstalling the Plex iOS app (iPhone and iPad) with default settings, attempts to play live streamed TV from my HDHomerun tuner (worked fine with the old app) produces the following error:

Error Occurred

The operation couldn’t be completed.
(CoreMediaErrorDomain error 1718449215.)

The Plex server (QNAP NAS with Nvidia graphics card for hardware transcoding) reports streaming MPEG2VIDEO at 480i and MP2 Stereo. The new app fails to handle this.

If I disable Direct Stream in the app, the video is displayed, albeit hardware transcoded to a H264 stream, but there is still no audio, with the server now transcoding the MP2 to an OPUS stream. These events occur whether I am streaming over my local network or over the WAN. Once again, everything worked fine before this wonderful new look upgrade.

iOS IS able to play OPUS streams in its default media player but the Plex app seems to be unable to utilise the codec.

As a Plex Pass holder I am extremely disappointed that (a) Plex haven’t fixed this and (b) they are nowhere to be seen in these forums and haven’t offered any words of reassurance. I feel I am not getting what I paid for and contemplating asking for a refund. Until this issue is resolved I would strongly advise potential new users to delay a decision to join Plex, maybe have a look at Infuse in the meantime.

I also agree with all those members who find the EPG SOOO slow to load and limited in schedules beyond 24 hours.

PLEASE Plex could you let us know what’s happening.

 ohh no. Still not usable

New Plex iOS update today - still not working.

Appears still no fix insight for this Live TV issue on iOS!!
Running Plex Synology server , No issues on all three of my TVOS units, works fine in Safari on my MacBook Pro. but NOT via iOS Plex app (2025.19.0) on iPad and iPhone. It is quite strange though that I can watch a few Live TV channels including sound, but other channels either just have a blank screen or it displays the error (Core Media Error Domain Error 1718449215). Cannot see any programs in the guide if I go forward more than approx. 24 hours! So frustrating this issue is dragging on for so long!!

Sadly all of the bugs previously reported in Live TV are still an issue in the GA 2025.19 and Beta 2025.20 releases.

However with 2025.20, the PiP button has been deleted…so whilst the issue doesn’t occur anymore, not sure that is a “fix” to just delete the feature.

This thread is tracking the broader list of items, feel free to call out anything that is missing.

How did you fix this?

Safari can be used as a workaround for now it seems. I have no issue with audio using Safari and plex.tv

Same iOS and live tv issue here, although with some difference. 2 out of 14 channels actually do work - in original quality. Rest of them always give CoreMediaErrorDomain. The working channels are from the same broadcaster (Yle in Finland).

If I transcode video, then it works but no sound as others have mentioned.

Plex app: 2025.20.0
iPadOS: 18.5 (iPad Mini 2024)
Plex server version: 4.146.0 (Synology nas)
