Further to my original fault report below, and with all due respect of your own time and efforts, I have decided life is too short to spend an unknown amount of my own time regularly checking back here in the hope this issue will be acknowledged and regularly checking for app and server updates in the hope this issue has been fixed, in the meantime driving my family mad with the loss of live tv on their devices, so I have paid $80 / £60 for 12 months of getchannels.com Channels DVR Server which is now allowing me to watch live TV on my iOS devices again. Full calmness and tranquility has resumed in my household.
In the meantime I will check back here in 12 months in the hope this issue will be fixed by then and I can revert back to using Plex Live TV on my iOS devices again.
Kind regards,
Richard

Dear Plex Support,
Since 3 or 4 weeks ago when the Plex iOS app was updated I have been getting video but no audio when trying to watch Live TV on any of my iOS devices. Video and audio are working fine on the web client so my server appears to be ok.
I have however also tried installing a fresh copy of Plex Media Server and configured Live TV on another QNAP NAS with the same HDHomeRun tuner and i am getting the same Live TV issue of video but no audio on any iOS devices.
Please would you confirm if this is a known issue that you are working on?
Software issues take time to fix of course but an acknowledgment that this is a known issue would be appreciated by me and other users reporting the same issue as there have been one or two updates for Plex Media Server and the Plex iOS app since this issue started but this issue still hasn’t been resolved or at least acknowledged.
I have also been pleasantly piloting channels dvr during my plex woes. Solid tech with a great suite of apps for the Apple ecosystem. If plex issues are still ongoing at the end of my 1 month channels dvr free trial I will gladly sign up for the year.
Given that Plex Support tell us to log issues on this forum and how long this issue has been around since they updated their iOS app, and how many updates to the server and app there have been since it was first reported without fixing it, I don’t think Plex Support will ever fix this issue or even acknowledge it is an issue, so don’t hold your breath.
Give Channels DVR Server a go like I have, it works perfectly on iOS, it’s good value at £60 per year, and their support is a billion times better than Plex. I’m not affiliated with Channels DVR Server, I’m just a very upset loyal and long time Plex Pass subscriber who has lost faith after being abandoned like this. They can’t even be bothered to reply to any of these messages, so that tells us a lot.
LiveTV audio for some unknown reason does work with opus or latm audio codec on new iOS client.
Works when you record and playback.
I wouldnt hold my breath on Plex fixing this. It did not work in Preview period - bug was mentioned multiple times.
Basically this is to say this bug has existed for over 6 months.
I started this bug list focused purely on Live TV. Hoping that this might help the Plex team understand the issues we are facing since the relaunch of the mobile apps.
Wow that’s even worse! I wasn’t involved in the preview, I was just an unsuspecting existing customer receiving the update when it went public which then broke everything. If Plex Support have actually known about this issue for over six months during preview and beyond then a) what’s the point of helping them with beta testing and previews if they just ignore the feedback that they don’t want to hear and b) they are really disrespectful to their loyal customers for knowingly releasing broken software without even acknowledging the issue exists and acknowledging it’s being worked on - that’s all we want after all, a simple acknowledgement that a solution is being worked on or even some guidance on any temporary workarounds with optional server addons etc. Shame on them for totally ignoring us on this.
Plex have not been ignoring and they are actively working on the issues. These assumptions are not true. What maybe true is communication has been wanting at times in some discussions.
Thank you ozsmac. I note this specific issue of no audio for any Live TV channels on iOS is not listed, can you confirm if one of those bugs on your list is actually the issue I have described in this thread? I also note that SE56 has posted replies on your bug list but the two Plex employees he mentions (Craig_Holliday and BigWheel) have not posted any replies. Do you know if Plex Support are aware of your list and have confirmed they are working on it? I can’t find an official list of known bugs for Live TV anywhere here or the Plex website.
The only reports that I’ve seen are with remote playback, where transcode isn’t working. Are you seeing no audio over local network, I’ve not experienced that myself.
It’s possible that the Plex team have provided feedback on one or many of these issues (I think RPG has been noted), however they are impossible to find across so many different threads (some are generic feedback threats, others specific).
These issues make life tv via tuner totally unusable, hoping Plex can fix soon.
Indeed, this is the Optus transcode issue that I’ve listed in the master bug list, seems anything with MP2 is transcoded to Optus that doesn’t seem to work in the New Experience client (2025.19 beta and previous versions), so spot on.
ABC HD in Melbourne, audio not working (screen shot taken from macOS client whilst playing back on iOS)
PS - In trying to capture the above seen shots by changing channels, I had the "Error Occurred The operation couldn’t be completed. (CoreMediaErrorDomain error 1718449215) occur several times.
Just stating facts. 6 months and counting, no fix no ack no nothing.
When Live TV is essentially rendered useless (no audio in my book counts as useless) and they push the app to all users without ability to go back to previous version - I do not know whats worse … are they ignoring the bugs or intentionally crippling functionality for “existing” customers in hope that the new app will attract more ad revenue from new users ?!
In my case, it forced me to look for alternatives first time since 2008
Installed Jellyfin and Emby in parallel and testing family acceptance…
@wally007 well said, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Due to this complete lack of acknowledgment from Plex Support, all my posts on this forum being ignored by them, and perhaps more importantly the lack of a public known issues list that we can check to reassure us that they are at least aware of the issue and looking at it - [anyone out there - please direct me to their official known issues list if you know they have one] - I too have been forced to trial alternative solutions including Channels DVR Server.
The Plex website tells us they do not offer technical support by email and to use the community forums instead, so we’re only doing what they are telling us to do, along with uploading our logs as requested etc, only to be ignored, so why bother?
Whatever the reason, whether it’s deliberate or accidental due to high workload etc, Plex need to know that a huge community of their loyal users are feeling abandoned and some are even having to look at alternative solutions due to family pressures, for the above reasons.
Plex Support - Please reassure us we have this all wrong!
Completely agree with you, no news from Plex support. If this is the case they should make the IOS App prior to April available. This new IOS Plex app is garbage
Can we go back to the iOS app three months ago where live tv worked great. Just updated to the new iOS version July 8th. Same problem as previous version. Live tv with no audio. Using HD Home Run
