404 Not Found - can't get local access after update - HELP!

Player Version#: Any

After receiving the "update required’ notification, I manually installed the latest QNAP x64 package via the QNAP app center. All appeared to go well.

Now when I try to log into the server from a LAN PC using the local IP, I get an instant 404 Not Found error.

If I use the Plex.tv route, oddly enough I can see my server’s offerings, but I cannot access any of the server settings (Server Settings Unavailable). When I try to play content, it just spins indefinitely. It’s almost like what I’m seeing on the cloud (plex.tv) is a stale version - even though it shows green on my server connection. At this point I appear to have no way to make GUI changes.

I am a total linux noob, so please talk to me like I’m 5.

After 1.15.4.993 did this, I used the same update path to install a previous version (1.15.3.858) but that behaves exactly the same way.

I am desperate at this point.

Unfortunately, many of us are having the same issue after the update. I have not read any thread that addresses this issue yet???

Really? Ugh… I did a cursory search on the 404 error and only came up with stuff 30+ days old. I had no idea there was a problem. Is there a centralized thread on the issue where I can register a “me too” complaint? Is it specific to QNAP?

I am not sure. I am hopeful that they are working on this issue? Everything was GREAT before this update and I had NO ISSUES with the server. However, with my kids, every time they saw the update, they selected it and it put me back in the same boat.

I wish there were a way they could isolate Admin accounts to shield users from seeing upgrade and other settings???

Just to make sure we’re both having the same issue - you are also running on QNAP? Mine won’t update unless I do some kind of convoluted dance with the QNAP app center and manually download the latest Plex package - then push the install through the QNAP app panel. There isn’t an ‘accidental’ way for me to do an update. I has to be deliberate.

I just wish there was a way to get into the preferences from some way other than the GUI as right now I’m completely locked out.

Sorry, I am working on WIndows Server platform. However, I was good until this morning and the update message popped up. I installed like normal and now cannot access the server except from the server itself. Sorry for the confusion.

No worries. I just hope to catch the eye of some team support memeber. I’m sure this is simple problem to resolve, but with me being totally naive on how to work linux, I’m easily bamboozled.

Someone like @ChuckPa - that guy knows his stuff, and helped me out a few months ago when somehow my Plex disassociated itself from my account and became orphaned. He walked me through the process to re-establish rights. I’m really hoping it’s that simple…

Me too…but, seems like this release was not properly tested. It is taking a while for them to acknowledge there is an issue.

First question: Are we talking about QNAP or Windows?
Second question: What got installed?

I am on QNAP and installed the latest version 1.15.4.993 via the QNAP manual install option on their app control panel.

I have since downgraded but the problem remains…

Yes, it’s what I updated to… Then no more access on the local IP and plex.tv won’t let me access server settings.
