Since todays down time, it was working fine for about an hour, then I was watching something else, and it froze, now when I open the App on my PS4 it just shows an Error 404 Page. Any way to fix this?
Hi there. Are you still seeing this issue?
Hi @Moussa
Yes I am, it was working fine yesterday but I’m guessing a background update has changed something
Hmm very odd. Could you try reinstalling the app?
I have tried this multiple times, I still get the same error. I’m not sure what has changed but it needs to be changed back
Can I ask which country you’re in?
I am from England
Very odd. Could I ask you to try deleting the app from your PS4 and hard rebooting the device before installing the app again?
Hi,
I have already done that, I’ve even gone to the the extent of Factory Resetting my PS4.
Okay lets try another avenue. Which PS4 system software version are you on? If you’re not on the latest (6.00) can you try updating your system first before downloading the app.
I am on 5.05, and have no way of Updating it as it doesnt connect to an outside network
I’m confused. If your PS4 doesn’t connect to the internet then how are you running the Plex app? It requires internet access.
Via LAN to my Server, which only I connect to the internet on rare occasions. I am hoping you aren’t telling me that you have put a Firmware Requirement to use the Plex App, as otherwise I’ll regret buying my Lifetime subscription.
We do not intentionally restrict app access by a firmware requirement, it’s a side effect of the way we update the hosted part of the app. We’re looking into a workaround.
I just plugged tried something, and Sky, Amazon Prime, Twitch, and other apps work fine. It’s just Plex
Adding my voice and my monthly subscription to Plex on this, same thing, http 404, meaning a page in the backend has been removed, PS4, Canada, FW5.05, connected to the internet, everything else works, just the 404 when trying to reach the backend.
Moussa, have you created a ticket to the developers?
Paying customers need to get resolution or a clear indication if a firmware level is a pre-requisite so we can take a decision (mind you 5 bucks/month are peanuts, but if this is the way of the future I’ll rather take my albeit-small business to Emby)
I’m not expecting immediate resolution, I understand how bugs and features are handled, but I see this thread going nowhere.
Hi @Raymond. We’re working on a solution for affected users. Unfortunately it means that users on older firmware versions will not be able to access the latest version of the app, and any fixes or new features that come with them. This just isn’t possible as we build against an SDK version that requires the latest console firmware.
@Moussa Does this mean I am going to have to somehow, downgrade my Server PC now?
No Plex Media Server downgrade is necessary.
This should now be fixed.
