4K video not playing with new player on Android TV, but old player works

I was trying to play a 4K demo (HEVC Main 10@L5.1@Main, AAC LC) which cannot be direct played on my Sony Bravia AG9.
The first attempt using the new player failed saying “An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app.”
After deactivating the new player, the video played fine (direct streaming video and audio).
Wondering why this is the case? I have attached the relevant Plex Media Server.log file.
