Uh, that’s interesting. I’m having the exact same issue. Tried everything, uninstalled and installed Plex, but ended up with the “server not found” message. It’s totally broken (and btw: I am kind of a system administrator and not a noob). It used to work fine, but stopped working somewhen beginning of march. Also on a Synology DS 415+, used to work with Plex Server 1.13.x, now on the latest stable 1.14.x. Lifetime Plex Pass User.
Having same issue generally here. I am noticing that the server actually stops running on my Synology - I restart it on the NAS and it becomes visible again. No reason for it stopping intermittently, that I am able to discern.
@trumpy81 thanks. Unfortunately this didn’t work for me:
******** ERROR ********
We failed to authenticate towards plex.tv
Please check username and password, as well as network access
I know that my username and password are correct and I do have network access. Tried the script four times, deleted Preferences.xml and also tried 127.0.0.1 aside the regular internal IP.
yes, all of this, multiple times. I spent two days trying to figure this one out, completely removing Plex and reinstalling. This issue started a couple of days ago even though I didn’t update or change anything, everything went fine before. I feel I’m running out of options
Thanks, but unfortunately, I couldn’t fix this issue:
network change: that’s when I restarted everything (rooter and server)
http 200 is OK, http 401 is unauthorized, so it seems there’s an issue on the plex side of things? Where do you read that my cables are broken?
the server and network cables are fine as there are more services running on various machines and I’m experiencing no other issues. I can download and install packages, the webserver is running fine, I can ssh remotely… The only issue is that Plex cannot find the media server.
Mar 11, 2019 04:05:05 → that’s during the night, when there are some scripts running, requesting a new external IP and servers reboot etc.
I cannot check Plex settings > server, as there is no more server to configure
My library is organized nicely, there are just a couple of misplaced files that are coming from iTunes
I removed the damaged video files, but that didn’t change the issue that the server cannot be found (although I can access the web interface)
Ok, I got it working again. Unfortunately I am not sure what was exactly the cause of this issue. I have a FritzBox DSL router and an AirPort Express that is set up in Bridge mode. After disconnecting the AirPort Express and restarting both the FritzBox and the Synology Server, Plex was showing the server again and I could connect it to my account. Now the AirPort Express is in the network again and so far everything seems to work. I am really uncertain if this was the issue, as I did this step at least one time before and it didn’t fix anything. Weird…
