About to Give Up on Plex

@kegbeach I finally “solved” the issue by blowing away PMS (apt autoremove --purge plexmediaserver) and deleting the plex generated folders along with the contents. Then I reinstalled PMS and changed the name of my server and now it’s working.

What I don’t understand is what happened with PMS and its most recent update that caused my server to fail. Error logging and requests for methods to identify failure points and how to resolve issues is not great. @ChuckPa abandoned me and this problem which is even more problematic, for me, as the client.

In summary; I don’t know when PMS will fail again and based on being an early supporter of Plex, it will fail again and there won’t be adequate support on how to resolve the issues. (PMS has failed several times over the years for unknown reasons)

Two final thoughts: @kegbeach You have tried to assist in resolution of this issue and for that I truly appreciate your efforts. I worked for many years as the director of software quality assurance at a major software development organization and I have the opinion that having the client test the reliability of software is not a great business model.
