Hey guys. I apologize if this is in the wrong place, but I don’t even know the correct terminology yet to know where I should post this. But it seems like I’m doing something wrong with my server, so I think it belongs here
So, my question is simple: Is it not possible to click a “Play Trailer” button/link on TV shows? I’ve only tested this in a PC web browser, and the Android App, but I can’t see any way to play TV Show Trailers.
Now, I’ve googled and read plenty of threads that tell me that I should be able to manually play trailers for TV Shows, but unlike the movies (where trailers work just fine) there is never an option to play trailers for TV shows. I’ve gone through all the agent settings, both for Movies and TV Shows, and made sure that trailers are enabled wherever there’s any mention of them, but still I can’t get trailers.
while Plex usually finds trailers for all/most movies, there’s much less trailers associated with tv shows available (at least in the official sources used by Plex).
Thanks for the response!
Ah, okay, so it’s not that the trailers aren’t working… it’s just that none of the shows I’ve tried have any.
Upon checking, it seems TVDB doesn’t really have trailers for TV shows. Is that the primary source of data for Plex? In the Agents settings, I see that TheMovieDB (which seems to have TV show trailers) is also a possible source, but there’s no Trailers option in TheMovieDB settings.
It may be outside the scope of this thread, and perhaps most people don’t care, but is there some way to manually add the trailers to the system, either locally or in a broader (and more globally beneficial) sense?
Extras and trailers are part of what Plex calls “local media assets”. Those are supported for movies (also working for “other video” libraries) – currently there’s no such option for tv shows
Local media assets for tv shows only include posters, related artwork and theme songs.
