Activate Plex app on older app

I am currently trying to setup my older iPad Air (1st gen) as a dedicated Plex player. I have set everything up and it seems to work fine, albeit a bit sluggishly on the other hardware. However, when I go to activate the app, I am not able to click the button for the in-app purchase. I presume this is because I am using an older version of the app since my iPad is stuck on iOS 12.5.5.

If I go ahead and purchase the activate under my Apple ID with a newer iOS device with a current version Plex app, will the in app purchase be able to be restored on my iPad? I have confirmed that the option to activate is available on my newer iPhone, and the option to restore the purchase is available on the iPad.
