TL;DR Something is wrong with my library search and smart filters, and I don’t know if it’s a me issue or a Plex issue.
I’ve been toying with making different smart collections based on actors, and I stumbled on this weird issue/bug with Plex. I don’t know exactly how many actors this applies to, but I specifically ran into this issue while looking at movies with Christian Bale and Tom Hardy.
First off, I was trying to make a smart collection with every movie I own with Tom Hardy in it. However, his name would not show up as a selectable option even though I own several of his movies. To make sure I wasn’t going nuts, I added Christian Bale as an option since they’re in The Dark Knight Rises together. As you can see, The Dark Knight Rises does show up as a film in my library because of Bale, and so does The Prestige (we’ll get to that later).
So, I decided to do a general search for Hardy through Plex, and he does show up, but the only movies that show up as part of my accessible libraries are from my cousins server (His is “TheBatCave” mine is “Cerebro”) even though I have the highlighted movies in my library.
So, I decided to look up Bale to see what would happen there, and now Plex is saying the only movie I have access to is The Dark Knight Rises, but only on my cousin’s library. None of his other movies are showing up, even though they did when I selected him as a filter option for a smart collection.
So I decide to see what happens if I click on The Prestige, which I own and have watched through my library, and Plex is now suggesting I don’t have access to that movie in any way, shape, or form.
Does anyone know what is going on here and how it can be fixed?
