Getting up there in votes just like Default to Original/max Quality did back in the day… Hopefully this one doesn’t take 10 years to (re-)implement… ![]()
I bought a lifetime Plex Pass a long time ago, and the removal of Watch Together has been enough for me to seriously consider leaving Plex for Jellyfin. Watch Together was an essential way that I had weekly dates with my long distance boyfriend.
I’m a long time plex user. I was about to use this feature for the first time and I was so disappointed when my Roku TV app updated a few days ago to the latest UI experience and lost the watch together feature!!!
I can maybe understand no longer updating it or improving it, but to complexly get rid of it on the tv apps. WHY!!! its already there and works!!! Please bring this back!!!
The Watch Together feature is vital to all versions of the plex experience. It is single handedly the best feature when users can stream together ACROSS PLATFORMS – and has been a major selling point when discussing with others who decided to then purchase plex pass for their own use cases. Please bring back watch together support for the New Plex Experience on all app versions.
Suggestion: Require an active Plex Pass to use Watch Together. This is a feature I am willing to pay for (and I did pay for it until the announcement at which point I cancelled).
Another suggestion: Give forum votes only to accounts with an active Plex Pass. “Voting with your wallet” has too long a lag time…a lifetime it would seem for some of you. (Perhaps that should have been a consideration before purchasing “lifetime”.)
Bring. It. Back.
So when is it going to be fully supported again?
Long time user, extremely disappointed at the loss of this, and other features.
The greed is really starting to show with each release, removing features is lame, especially given the low cost of app programmers that can do this easily.
This needs to be a priority, as your customers are clearly wanting it to return.
Perhaps forego the larger yacht, or that upgrade from the G5 to G6, and show your customers that you give a flying eff about them.
Please please bring this back. Such a great feature and the core reason I bought the lifetime pass.
A brilliant way to stay in touch with friends and family and the main reason I use Plex. Hardly ever watch on my own these days, seems a bit miserable compared to the fun of Watch Together
Dear Plex Team & @PlexInfo
I’m not seeking technical support, I simply want to formally express my deep disappointment with the recent update to the Plex app. As a long-time and loyal user, I’m disheartened by the removal of the Watch Together feature and the introduction of what I feel is the most frustrating and unintuitive UI to date. These changes may ultimately lead me to leave the Plex ecosystem.
I had been planning to expand my use of Plex into DVR functionality, but the removal of Watch Together (a feature that allowed my family to connect and share experiences despite being far apart) has genuinely upset me. It was one of the few ways we could feel together during times of physical separation. Now, I’m left questioning whether other valued features like DVR will be next.
I understand the challenges involved in maintaining and evolving an app, but I’m genuinely baffled by the decision to remove a feature that worked well and was clearly appreciated by users. It feels like a step backward.
While the new app may be visually more dynamic, it is awkward to navigate and functionally unreliable. The user experience has suffered significantly.
I sincerely hope Plex reconsiders this direction before more Plex Pass members like myself decide to move on. You have a great product, but decisions like these risk alienating your most loyal users.
That was a well thought out comment that is destined to be ignored like every other post expressing dissatisfaction with the “new Plex”.
The direction Plex is heading had already caused me and all of my users to go down another path with Emby. The data breach where they refuse to tell us the extent, the fact that you have to opt out of them selling your information to every vendor they onboard (bad news, by the time you do they’ve already sold them the info they had), or the removal of beloved features. All signs point towards an evil corporation rather than a small company providing a service I’m happy to pay for.
This is now the 3rd-highest voted request in Suggestions. Any word on bringing back this functionality? I recently needed this feature…again… and I’m so sad it’s still gone.
My Plex server has files added nearly 15 years ago (It’s been the same server this whole time, and even that was migrated from XBMC in the early 00’s). Since then friendships and locations have drifted and changed - the watch together feature when it came along changed everything. It is SUCH a great way to keep a kindling for some of those friendships across great distances. And while the old “Play at the next time the minute rolls over” is always there, it’s not as smooth or reliable an option. I’ve grown to rely on that feature working seamlessly and now it’s being torn apart.
I’m a Plex pass lifer since 2013 when I bit the bullet and decided to support something I loved using, and I understand that 74 some-odd dollars doesn’t stretch throughout time as much as the account privileges do. So I will go so far to say I would even pay a Patreon style 5/10$ a month subscription to keep the Plex team coding towards community desires and not false hopes for ad rev profit venues models. (Assuming it was vetted that they would work towards solving community voted issues like this).
Basically trying to say, I care enough about this feature that I would throw money at the plex team to not screw this up.
As I wished I could watch planes trains and automobiles using watch together with my family, I am reminded of this topic.
This suggestion is now the second highest voted request…. any movement on it?
The holiday season has come around, which is historically when I watch a number of beloved shows with a friend separated geographically using Watch Together. We tried doing so the other day, and found that the feature no longer exists. I tracked down this thread and would like to express my strong disappointment at the abandonment of this functionality and add my request for its return to the thousands up above who would like the same.
innit just as easy to use discord screen sharing? i get why they think they can drop it… but it should definitely be a plexpass feature… I VOTE TO KEEP!!!
2,500 votes now. Silence.
You’d think that this got more votes in 10 months than any other feature except Plexreader (which has been going since 2013) would be an indicator of how much people want the function back.
But we all know the feature suggestions forum is a farce, Plex don’t implement things based on user desire or votes, they implement things based on internal whims and profit margins.
no, its not really as good. Subtitles, Audio, Transcode, Stream quality can all be different for time sync to work. not to mention you have to pay for discord nitro for 1080p or 4k or something like that.
